Amazon Software Dev Engineer II, FireTV in Chennai, TennesseeIndia

Description

The SDE for FTV Catalog Core Services and Operations Tooling team in Chennai will deliver key initiatives that powers our world-class content forward experience for millions of customers.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to shape the future of our Catalog Tooling ecosystem. You'll design and implement micro cloud services and APIs serving ultra-high volume transactions. Your cloud services and API’s have direct impact to customer experience, be a base for building variety of features for FireTV. You identify improvements to current design, propose improvements, identify impact to dependent systems, implement and rollout changes successfully. You continuously look for improvements that improve customer experience.

Key job responsibilities

  • Ownership of micro services and components, adopt latest technologies, build quality guard rails, alarms and monitors

  • Identify areas to reduce operational overhead, optimize the cost, build best practices for the team

  • Proactively identify and resolve technical risks and issues that may impair the team's ability to meet strategic or technical goals.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional team to deliver the best product for our customers

  • Raise the quality bar for the team with your every code and design artifact

  • Experience mentoring junior members of the team

Amazon FireTV products are revolutionary consumer devices that have become the #1 best-selling Amazon products. Under Amazon devices organization, FireTV Catalog and Operations team owns core Catalog services and tools to understand and manage catalog data that which is continually growing. This is based on cutting edge technologies such as Java, React, GraphQL, and AWS backend stack. The systems you build are the foundation for FireTV content forward experience and the operational business. It generates critical data to power FireTV's video catalog and discovery experiences. You will work with product and other technology teams to explore solutions to improve FireTV's key business metrics.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
