Major Responsibilities:

  • Has full technical responsibility for planning, interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating the engineering assignments and activities on the project in liaison with the Project Engineering Manager.

  • Establish / manage the overall engineering budget, maintains ownership, and ensures execution within approved budgets.

  • Responsible for managing Civil -Mechanical-Electrical-Plumbing (MEP) Designs and HVAC in compliance with the relevant codes, standards and guidelines.

  • Manage Engineering Designs and Calculations for Grading, Roadways, Drainage, Water Distribution Systems, Wastewater Collection and Treatment Systems, Electrical Systems, Pumping Systems and Fire Detection and Suppression Systems in compliance to all local and international codes and guidelines.

  • Experience in HVAC, Chilled Water Systems, Condenser Water Systems, Pump controls, Glycol/Glycols, AHU units (DX, split, RTU, CRAC, etc.), CRAH, Raised Floor Systems, HOT/COLD aisle containment and Building Management Systems.

  • Works closely with internal and external stakeholders including consultants, engineers, architects, planners, construction managers and quantity surveyors.

  • Prepare Tender & Construction Drawings along with Engineering Design Plans.

  • Take part in risk workshops and report any risks associated with MEP installations or general projects to the Project Director.

  • Review designs for site layout, grading, power substations, storm water, utilities, and pavement.

  • Take ownership of and lead projects to design and implement data center expansions or new data centers on tight deadlines with minimal oversight.

  • Review PUE calculation and implement technical designs to improve PUE factor.

  • Establishes / manages the project design, engineering scope and maintains ownership

  • Coordinates, manages the statutory and company specific design reviews are undertaken, i.e., Model Reviews, HAZOP, LOPA, etc. Ensures that requisite supporting documentation is completed.

  • Establishes / manages and reviews the engineering project schedule for the project/program carries out any actions to prioritize /re-schedule the engineering deliverables and personnel necessary to meet the overall schedule.

  • Plans, forecasts, identifies the necessary engineering resources to support the program workload requirements program release dates for input to the functional department.

  • Provide Engineering inputs to aid in Value Engineering.

  • Co-ordinates technical and commercial reviews on engineering outputs from the project / program, reviews contract documentation.

  • Undertakes design co-ordination meetings with construction at various phases including implementation of Design for Safe Construction Procedure.

  • Instigates and reviews TIC reduction/ value engineering opportunities / proposals

  • Ensures that statutory and company specific design reviews are undertaken and are in accordance with QA procedures in place at the time

Education and Experience Requirements:

Basic Qualification :

  • A recognized bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university with over 16 years of working experience.

  • Certified Data Center Professional with experience of Handling various Tier III and Tier IV rated Data Center projects.

Preferred Qualification :

  • Executed at least one project in Project Engineering role in Data Center Projects.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • In depth knowledge of Data Center, M&E infrastructure design concepts, electrical/UPS topologies, cooling methodologies (central plant, room cooling, high density thermal strategies).

  • Extensive knowledge of Civil and MEP engineering practices plans and technical specifications legislations, procedures and practices.

  • Review one-line diagrams and cooling equations for new and existing data centers.

  • Anticipates internal and/or external business challenges and/or regulatory issues.

  • Working knowledge of industry / regulatory standards and design criteria within the engineering disciplines.

  • Ability to develop innovative ideas to reduce project total installed costs (TIC).

  • Ability to present technical design issues to customers and suppliers and the ability to recommend solutions based on knowledge and experience.

  • Proficient execution planning, resource allocation skills.
