Chelsea Soldiers Home/Quigley Mem Hosp. Speech Language Pathologist in Chelsea, Massachusetts

The state operated Veterans Home at Chelsea is an independent state agency consisting of long-term care and a domiciliary which are independent living quarters for our veterans. The care and services provided by the Veterans Homes are supported by an extraordinary group of staff working to meet the needs of our veterans. The ideal incumbent\'s role as the Speech Language Pathologist I will be to provide speech-language therapy services (including swallowing assessments) to maximize independent function, enhance development, and prevent disability to the residents at the Veterans Home in Chelsea. DETAILED STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Performs comprehensive evaluations to determine goals and to develop appropriate treatment plans. 2. Provides direct and indirect treatment to veterans as needed. 3. Understands the principles and appropriate use of appropriate therapeutic/adaptive equipment. 4. Documents all speech-language therapy-related services according to facility policy. 5. Coordinates with other disciplines to assure optimal care, including attendance at interdisciplinary meetings. 6. Communicates effectively with Veterans, staff, families, and colleagues. 7. Understands and supports departmental goals and objectives. 8. Demonstrates professional growth through appropriate utilization of continuing education opportunities. 9. Adheres to professional ethics and conduct of duties. 10. Completes quarterly screens and annual assessments as well as contribute to MDS completions. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED AT HIRE: 1. Knowledge of the science, theory, and principles associated with the practice of speech-language pathology. 2. Knowledge of speech-language therapy evaluation skills, treatment principles and techniques. 3. Ability to understand, explain and apply the policies, procedures, standards and guidelines governing speech-language pathology and rehabilitation activities. 4. Ability to use sound clinical judgement. 5. Ability to communicate using good interpersonal skills. QUALIFICATIONS ACQUIRED ON JOB: 1. Knowledge of facility and departmental operating systems. 2.
