The state operated Veterans Home at Chelsea is an independent state agency consisting of long-term care and a domiciliary which are independent living quarters for our veterans. The care and services provided by the Veterans Homes are supported by an extraordinary group of staff working to meet the needs of our veterans. The ideal incumbent\'s role as the Nursing scheduler will be to provides scheduling and staffing coverage for the Nursing Department. Inputs, retrieves, maintains, and modifies data on a variety of scheduling and computerized staffing systems for all nursing units and float staff. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES: Collaborates with Staff Development department for scheduled mandated nursing staff trainings. Creates nurse staff schedules for new hire nursing staff. Processes schedule changes within nursing department. Works collaboratively with nursing supervisors to fill call-out shifts. Generates and maintains the Nursing Department schedules. Contacts Nursing staff to solicit volunteers for authorized overtime and notifies employees of approved overtime and extra time. Files materials such as correspondence, and nursing logs attendance records, etc. Collects/Tracks time off requests for all nursing staff. Ensures that agency time logs, daily worksheets and need lists for all shifts are complete. Checks monthly schedules and daily worksheets to ensure accuracy. Provides support to Director of Nursing as necessary. Performs other duties as assigned. Ability to maintain accurate records. Ability to assist and work with people of diverse backgrounds. QUALIFICATIONS ACQUIRED ON JOB (List knowledges, skills, abilities.): Knowledge of the laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures governing assigned activities Knowledge of the types and uses of agency forms Knowledge of state agencies and resources Knowledge of the proper telephone procedures for making and receiving agency calls both via the landline telephone as well as virtual platforms (i.e. Microsoft Teams, Zoom, etc.)
