Responsibilities

Job Summary / Purpose

Responsible for the development, growth and maintenance of clinical programs deemed integral to building/sustaining comprehensive centers of excellence within the neurosurgery service line in collaboration with leadership that will meet the hospital and departmental mission and goals. In addition, will maintain a clinical presence. This will include rounding to contribute to quality, length of stay and cost per case goals as outlined by the institution and the Neurosurgery Service Line.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

  • Provides clinical leadership for programs/services to build volume, enhance quality and financial performance and community outreach.

  • Works with leadership to drive the strategic growth and development of the program .

  • Performs human resource duties: recruitment/retention, staff development, performance evaluations and corrective action to maximize productivity of direct/indirect reports.

  • This individual with their physician partners, leadership, physician enterprise leadership will lead work to develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives that drive organic growth and are accountable for achieving desired outcomes for improved access, quality, experience, engagement and cost, e..g. value.

  • Markets clinical services and outcomes to payers, physicians, patients, other referring physicians, emergency management services and medial to promote branding of Neurosurgery as a premier provider of neurosurgical care and services.

  • Collaboratively reviews and monitors standards of care by developing quality initiatives, pathways and protocols.

  • Develops and monitors neurosurgery and department and capital budgets, goals and clinical objectives.

  • Develops, negotiates and/or implements contracts for professional services in collaboration with service line leadership, etc.

  • Identifies and/or implements revenue and quality enhancement and cost reduction measures.

  • Assess clients and data to apply nursing/healthcare principles at the advanced level providing expertise, teaching/counseling to patients and healthcare team and work with physicians to analyze research to manage actual/potential health problems of patients.

  • Responsible for administrative functions of start-up for new programs/initiatives including the development and implementation of policies and procedures, staff selection, billing/scheduling issues, accreditation and licensure issues.

  • Develops presentation materials with leadership for senior management, medical staff and board.

  • Collaboratively develops financial pro-formas to assess feasibility of clinical program/service opportunities.

  • Develops key relationships to assess new technology, reimbursement changes and other factors that may affect the future of the service line.

  • Oversees coordination/implementation of special projects and events including screenings and seminars.

  • Manages integration of services with other hospital departments and programs for efficient/seamless delivery.

  • Collaborates with external organizations to partner in joint programs/initiatives.

  • Assists in the planning and implementation of a Joint Commission certified Comprehensive Center to enhance the development of a regional referral center. Maintains all necessary standards required for ongoing certification.

  • Ensures all policies are current and reviewed annually

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required or Advanced Practice Provider (APP)

Master’s Degree strongly preferred

Required Licensure and Certifications

RN

BLS

ACLS

Certification in specialty

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training

Demonstrated competence in specialty as evidenced by 5-7 years experience in specialty. Leadership experience.

Pay Range

$46.74 - $67.77 /hour
