Job Title: Process Engineer
Job Description
As a Process Engineer, you will be at the forefront of implementing and maintaining key processes throughout the entire Compounding and Filling operation to enhance capacity and capability, supporting business growth. In collaboration with Operations, Maintenance and Engineering, R&D, and Business Development, you will ensure that the right systems and processes are in place to manufacture the highest quality products as efficiently as possible. This role also involves exploring new technologies to advance our capabilities for future growth. The ideal candidate will have a experience in chemical engineering with experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the consumer packaged goods industry (such as food, beverages, makeup, and household products).
Responsibilities
Conduct research to develop new and improved processes for manufacturing.
Support capacity and capability advancements to enable new product development and successful commercialization.
Lead and direct cost improvement initiatives to meet business objectives, including quality, efficiency, and cost-focused projects.
Enhance safety, upgrade environmental safeguards, and optimize process operations.
Assist in developing safety procedures for individuals working with hazardous chemicals.
Provide ongoing engineering assistance to operations, including troubleshooting process operating problems, conducting special tests, developing reports, and providing technical assistance as required.
Represent or assist production and engineering in evaluating, selecting, coordinating, and controlling vendors supplying necessary operating services, consulting services, materials, equipment, and other operation needs.
Conduct process scope development for capital projects, including justifications, conceptual design, and reviewing proposed capital work for technical feasibility, operability, and project management.
Manage cross-functional process capability projects with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and R&D to improve existing performance and support new product development.
Collaborate with cross-functional team members to advance operational and process improvements utilizing continuous improvement techniques.
Participate in Environmental, Health, and Safety initiatives as set forth by the company.
Essential Skills
A Chemical Engineering degree from an accredited university.
3-7 years of experience in a Process Engineering role, preferably within the consumer packaged goods industry.
Proven track record of independently managing projects from conception to completion.
Ability to work collaboratively and cohesively with a multicultural and diverse team, influencing other departments and managers.
Advanced computer skills, including the Microsoft Office suite of applications.
Physical ability to lift 40 lbs, climb ladders and stairs, and perform walking, bending, and stooping tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Process certifications, such as a Six Sigma belt (preferred but not required).
Project management certification through PMI, ASAPM, or other recognized institutions (preferred but not required).
Advanced presentation and influential skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
Work Environment
This role requires travel to our manufacturing locations in Eden Prairie and Chaska, MN, and our corporate office in Eden Prairie, MN. The position demands significant work hours beyond the normal workday as required by the business cycle and customer volume. You will work 8-10 hours between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., with flexibility based on business needs. The job may require up to 5-20 hours of additional work per week, depending on customer requirements and staffing. Physical requirements include lifting 40 lbs, climbing ladders and stairs, and performing tasks that involve walking, bending, and stooping. The work environment involves moderate interruptions in workflow and a low rate of overnight and day travel
