University of Virginia Research Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacology (Leitinger Lab) in Charlottesville, Virginia

The Pharmacology Department in the School of Medicine at the University of Virginia seeks a tenure-ineligble Research Assistant Professor to provide research support in the Lab of Dr. Norbert Leitinger. The incumbant will be expected to develop and lead an independent research project that thematically fits into the overall scope of the laboratory while being involved in teaching laboratory methods and supervising other lab members. Demonstration of enthusiasm for experimental research, teamwork and productivity, and respect for diversity of both people and viewpoints is expected

Applicants must have a PhD in the biological or chemical sciences, or an M.D. degree with 3-5 years of postdoctoral research experience, preferably in the areas of metabolism research and inter-organ communication. Experience in at least one of these areas is preferred: lipid biochemistry, immunology, metabolism, animal models, cell biology.
