University of Virginia Physical Therapist - UVA Orthopedic Center Ivy Rd. in Charlottesville, Virginia

UVA Health Physical and Occupational Therapy is seeking a physical therapist to practice at UVA Orthopedic Center Ivy Road in Charlottesville, VA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough patient evaluations to develop individualized treatment plans tailored to specific conditions and goals.

  • Implement evidence-based physical therapy interventions to promote recovery and improve patient outcomes.

  • Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons, athletic trainers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.

  • Educate patients and their families on therapy plans, exercises, and strategies to optimize recovery.

  • Document patient progress accurately in compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in physical therapy and participate in ongoing professional development.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of injury prevention and wellness programs.

  • Performs physical therapy examinations according to professional standards and departmental policy.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of intervention options and executes a program of skilled physical therapy intervention.

  • Actively participates in professional growth of self and others.

  • Actively participates in quality improvement and program development.

  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Required Education: Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT,) MPT or BS PT degree from an accredited program.

  • Licensure: Licensed to practice Physical Therapy in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

  • Experience: Experience in orthopedic or sports physical therapy is preferred but not required.

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to motivate and inspire patients throughout the recovery process.

  • Proficiency in developing and implementing treatment plans.

  • Adaptability to work with diverse patient populations.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires standing for prolonged periods and frequently bending/stooping/traveling. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 – 50lbs. May be exposed to blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
