The Department of Molecular Physiology and Biophysics (MPBP) at UVA invites applications for two open-rank faculty positions, with a preference for assistant professors. We are seeking individuals who have demonstrated excellence in the fields of physiology and biophysics. While we welcome candidates with expertise in either physiology or biophysics, we are particularly interested in applicants whose research integrates both disciplines.

· Develop and maintain an independent, externally funded research program.

· Teach graduate courses in physiology and biophysics.

· Supervise and mentor undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral researchers.

· Participate in departmental, college, and university service.

· Collaborate with existing faculty members on interdisciplinary research initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Ph.D. or equivalent degree in physiology, biophysics, or a closely related field.

• Demonstrated excellence in research, as evidenced by publications and extramural funding.

• Strong commitment to teaching and mentoring.

• Ability to develop and teach courses in physiology and biophysics.

• For higher rank appointments, a record of sustained extramural funding and demonstrated leadership in the field.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Research that spans both physiology and biophysics.

• Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration.

• Proven track record of securing extramural research funding.

• Strong potential for establishing collaborative research programs within the department and across the university.
