Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and resourceful Part-Time Merchandise Buyer to join our team at the collegiate sport account. The ideal candidate will have a passion for sports and an eye for the latest trends in sports apparel and equipment. This role involves selecting and purchasing a range of products that will appeal to college students and sports enthusiasts, ensuring our store remains competitive and relevant.

Job Responsibilities

? Manage administrative tasks related to creating purchase orders.

? Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.

? Analyze market trends and customer preferences to determine product selection.

? Attend trade shows and review sports merchandise catalogs to select products.

? Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers.

? Collaborate with the retail management team to forecast sales and inventory needs.

? Monitor inventory levels and reorder products as needed.

? Ensure merchandise is received on time.

? Work with the marketing team to correspond with teams marketing calendar.

? Report daily and weekly status update to account General Manager.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a merchandise buyer, preferably in a sports-related field.

  • Strong understanding of the collegiate sports culture and merchandise.

  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.

  • Ability to analyze sales data and market trends.

  • Proficient in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Flexibility to work part-time hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field is preferred.

  • Relevant experience in retail buying or a similar role may be considered in lieu of a degree.

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
