University of Virginia Director, Affiliate Research Program in Charlottesville, Virginia

The Director will serve as the ongoing liaison between the two health systems, facilitating the selection and opening of trials and providing expertise as needed to support the Riverside program. The Director will function in a dyad relationship with Riverside’s AVP of Clinical Research and dually report to both UVA Health and Riverside Health leadership. Responsibilities for the Director will include support for the UVA/Riverside Clinical Trials Alliance and all its activities and support for program building for the Riverside Clinical Trial Service Line and Clinical Trials Office. Key skills lay in coordination, relationship management, communication, and clinical trials management experience.

  • Stand up the UVA Health/Riverside Health Clinical Trials Alliance.

  • Support formation of focused research steering committees (e.g., cancer, cardiovascular, neurology) to oversee the portfolio vision and implementation of policies and processes (e.g., feasibility review) including approval to open any studies including non-UVA trials when appropriate to meet the needs of patients.

  • Coordinate a UVA-based research training program (for all levels of staff at Riverside).

  • Develop a plan to utilize the resources of the UVA CTSA (e.g., patient finding technology, training).

  • Interface with UVA investigators, the Clinical Trials Office, contracting, IRB etc. for UVA trials to be opened at Riverside.

  • Provide input into expansion plans for a UVA Community Clinical Trials Program with other providers across the state.

  • Provide input into a plan to expand clinical trials to the UVA community hospitals.

Position Compensation Range: $133,016.00 - $212,825.60 Annual

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelors required. Master’s Degree in business or healthcare field, RN or other clinical degree will substitute for years of experience.

Experience: Experience in regulatory requirements related to clinical trials required. Research experience as an investigator or supporting investigators 5+ years of experience required.

Licensure: None required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
