Siemens Energy Subject Matter Expert – CVE Costing in Charlotte, North Carolina

A Snapshot of Your Day

The Cost and Value Engineering (CVE) function is the driver of cost transparency and optimization for externally purchased material, components, and systems in the global Siemens Energy product portfolio.

As Subject Matter Expert – CVE Costing you will play a critical role in driving efficiency, innovation, and cost optimization within the CVE function in Procurement. Your responsibilities will span across the core CVE applications for cost transparency and market price intelligence as part of the comprehensive CVE Digitalization Roadmap.

In this role you will work in a diverse and dynamic team, collaborate with cross-functions and external service providers. With a wide exposure across organizational departments, you will operate as a business partner towards our internal customers and stakeholders. Your role will be centered around the ownership, administration, and continuous improvement of the selected major CVE costing tools. You ensure the alignment with organizational needs, optimize workflows, define and manage the development plans. Furthermore, you safeguard the comprehensive provision and application of harmonized market price intelligence data sets throughout all systems.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Ownership and Administration:

  • Take ownership of specific CVE costing tools, ensuring their effective administration and maintenance.

  • Continuously improve the functionality, landscape integration and usability of these tools.

  • Alignment and Optimization:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align the tools with organizational needs.

  • Optimize workflows related to cost transparency and market price intelligence.

  • Facilitate continuous exchange in user groups and expert groups around costing tools.

  • Development Plans:

  • Define and manage development plans for enhancing the CVE costing tools.

  • Work closely with external service providers to drive improvements.

  • Leverage your expertise to support in developing and executing an advanced and future oriented digitalization roadmap for CVE with focus on Costing.

  • Market Price Intelligence:

  • Safeguard the comprehensive provision and application of harmonized market price intelligence data sets across all systems.

  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date pricing information is available to support decision-making.

  • Advisory and training:

  • Give guidance to CVE team members and other users on application use.

  • Provide training and info sessions to user groups as well as stakeholders for application purpose, benefits, and utilization.

What You Bring

  • Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, Data Science).

  • Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CIPS, PMP) preferred.

  • Experience/capabilities:

  • At least 8-10 years of experience in cost engineering, procurement, or related roles.

  • Proficiency in using cost estimation and market price intelligence tools.

  • Proven track record in digital transformation, tool development, and implementation.

  • Familiarity with big data technologies, including AI and ML, as well as version control and deployment systems.

  • Strong project management skills, including stakeholder management technics.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Familiarity with data science tools and programming languages (Python, R, etc.).

  • Experience managing external vendors and cross-functional teams.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities. Comfortable driving change and influencing stakeholders.

  • Relevant technical product knowledge and experience around CVE methodologies is a must.

  • Curious, constant learner, pro-active and driven by results

  • Fluent in professional English is a must. Additional language, e.g. German/Spanish is a plus.
