BACKGROUND

Global Risk Management (GRM) leads bank-wide initiatives for management of all aspects of risk, including strategic, market, credit, compliance, liquidity, operational, model, and reputational risk matters to support sustainable, profitable corporate growth.

In a data driven economy, strategic data asset management is foundational to add to the enterprise value. Within GRM, we have established the Data Strategy & Management (DSM) function. A key pillar of this function is a growing Strategic Coordination and Implementation (SCI) team.

Under DSM Executive’s leadership, the SCI team will develop a holistic vision on how best to structure data sourcing and data quality control strategy for GRM so it can unlock business value. This role provides you with a broad platform to build partnerships with business and risk counterparts, a vantage point to explore end-to-end data ecosystems and technologies, and ability to co-develop solutions for GRM that drive the greatest value across the organization.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

This role will collaborate with the GRA & Markets Behaviors Surveillance team to help build different business cases and scenarios for identification of behaviors related to market manipulation.

· Collaboration with G RA & Markets Behaviors Surveillance team within GRM to understand the business case problems.

· Identification, evaluation and research on different use cases and scenarios for the trade surveillance – market disruption, market manipulation, financial or regulatory risks

· Identification of key trends, patterns in trading behaviors and market activities

· Work with the modeling team to provide market structure and regulatory expertise to build surveillance models.

· Participate in model design, development, and testing.

· Works in the development, execution, and enhancement of reporting to allow Risk and business partners to effectively identify and manage risk.

· Oversees the analysis of trends and oversees the data design, portfolio trends, loss trends, and portfolio dynamics to ensure alignment with business strategies.

· Serves as a liaison between the data, technology, and reporting teams in support of strategic initiatives affecting multiple Risk functions and lines of business to ensure company goals are met.

· Reviews database production processes and performance reports for senior management, using data mining and other advanced analytical techniques to aggregate data.

· Manages communications related to complex ad-hoc requests for information from both internal and external parties, ensuring requests are addressed.

· Leads cross-functional strategic efforts to remediate data quality issues.

· Provides oversight of relevant systems and assures controls are operating effectively based on feedback received from the control checks and reviews.

QUALIFICATIONS

· 4+ years of experience in global markets related to trading, controls, regulations or surveillance in one or more of these asset classes - Equities, FX, Commodities, Interest Rates, Credits

· Bachelors or Masters in computer science, finance, Information Systems or related field or relevant work experience.

· Understanding of financial markets and product

· Ability to monitor tight deadlines and adapt to unexpected requirement changes.

· Self-motivated with an ability to work on one’s own with a strong sense of ownership and accountability in high-pressure situations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Experience of programming in one or more among SQL, C/C++, Java, python

· Familiarity with one of the following areas – Trading, Consumer Banking, Wealth Management, Transaction Banking, Compliance Surveillance

· Understanding of algorithmic trading, their impact on markets and controls

· Experience inimplementation/designof basic controls in trade surveillance systems

· Familiarity with different data types – orders, executions, market data
