In addition, CMS offers an extensive range of magnet programs in 71 of its schools to nurture students' talents who have interests and abilities in specific areas. CMS is one of the largest employers in Mecklenburg County, with more than 18,000 teachers, support staff and administrators.

Our client is hiring 2 Network Engineers (District Classifies as Level 3) on a three month contract to hire basis. This person will support the district's network management station (district uses Cisco Prime, Solarwinds, PRTG etc.) and will be an escalation point for a Network 2 technician and a Voice Engineer out in the field at the schools. Typically, this person will complete about 2-3 tickets per day (Cherwell Ticketing System prioritizes them automatically). Majority of tickets are wireless related; second most popular are configuration issues with IOT devices.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Will serve as Networking Trainer and knowledge base for all things network related

  2. Will be knowledgeable in various Wireless Technologies

  3. Installation/maintenance of access points (APs)

  4. Installation/maintenance of switches and routers

  5. Installation and Maintenance for NMS (SolarWinds, Desktop Toolset, Network Servers etc.)

  6. Support of networks

  7. Maintenance of data closet to adhere to departmental standards

  8. Projects (software, hardware, firmware updates)

  9. Priority 1 ticket: second-level support (after IS&S support team member)

  10. Troubleshooting, root cause analysis

  11. Documentation – “how to” guides, required ticket system information, site configurations, other documentation as assigned/requested

  12. Proficient with network diagrams and ability to use Visio to help create as needed

  13. Performs other duties as assigned
