Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The University of North Carolina at Charlotte Facilities Management department is seeking an outgoing motivated person to join our staff.

Duties Include:

  • Responsible for performing routine maintenance of Commercial Kitchen, HVAC and refrigeration equipment to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and/or the physical condition of buildings do not deteriorate.

  • Use electrical test devices to troubleshoot and repair chiller electrical control circuits.

  • Independently overhaul small reciprocal compressors, larger reciprocal, absorption, and centrifugal compressors.

  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.

  • Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoist, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.

Minimum Experience / Education:

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

University Preferred Qualifications:

Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Education Skills and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED Equivalency.

  • 0- 3 years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of Commercial Kitchen, HVAC , and refrigeration equipment preferred.

  • Facilities Management experience preferred.

  • Effective comprehensions skills in verbal and written interpretation, with the ability for effective interpersonal communication.

  • Computer literate, with working knowledge and skill with Google Chrome, Microsoft Word, and Excel, and willingness to learn new programs.

  • Ability to effectively work/interact within the changing needs of an academic environment.

  • Ability to foster and create an atmosphere of teamwork.
