Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The University of North Carolina at Charlotte Facilities Management department is seeking an outgoing motivated person to join our staff.
Duties Include:
Responsible for performing routine maintenance of Commercial Kitchen, HVAC and refrigeration equipment to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and/or the physical condition of buildings do not deteriorate.
Use electrical test devices to troubleshoot and repair chiller electrical control circuits.
Independently overhaul small reciprocal compressors, larger reciprocal, absorption, and centrifugal compressors.
Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoist, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
University Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
High school diploma or GED Equivalency.
0- 3 years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of Commercial Kitchen, HVAC , and refrigeration equipment preferred.
Facilities Management experience preferred.
Effective comprehensions skills in verbal and written interpretation, with the ability for effective interpersonal communication.
Computer literate, with working knowledge and skill with Google Chrome, Microsoft Word, and Excel, and willingness to learn new programs.
Ability to effectively work/interact within the changing needs of an academic environment.
Ability to foster and create an atmosphere of teamwork.
