Robert Half Data Engineer in Charlotte, North Carolina
Description
Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable data pipelines on the AWS platform using services such as AWS Glue, AWS Data Pipeline, or custom-built solutions.
Implement and optimize SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) from various sources into AWS data storage solutions such as Amazon Redshift, Amazon RDS, or Amazon S3.
Develop and maintain Python scripts for data processing, manipulation, and automation tasks within the AWS environment.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and design efficient data models, schemas, and architectures for storage and analysis.
Ensure data quality and integrity by implementing monitoring, validation, and error handling mechanisms within data pipelines.
Perform performance tuning and optimization of data workflows to meet SLAs (Service Level Agreements) and scalability requirements.
Stay updated with AWS services and best practices related to data engineering, and proactively suggest improvements to existing processes and architectures.
Provide technical guidance and support to team members on AWS data engineering tools, SQL, ETL processes, and Python programming.
Document technical specifications, workflows, and solutions for reference and knowledge sharing within the team.
Participate in troubleshooting and resolution of data-related issues and incidents, including root cause analysis and preventive measures.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Data Engineer or similar role, with a focus on AWS technologies.
Strong proficiency in SQL for data manipulation and querying.
Experience with AWS services such as AWS Glue, AWS Data Pipeline, Amazon Redshift, Amazon RDS, and Amazon S3.
Proficiency in Python programming language for scripting and automation.
Solid understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
AWS certification(s) such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Developer, or AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty (preferred but not required).
