Position Summary

Serving at the discretion of the elected Prosecuting Attorney, duties may include misdemeanor and felony matters, including review of reports, review and preparation of search warrants, interview and preparation of witnesses, authorization or rejection of charges, all aspects of cases including pretrial conferences, preparation of motions, briefs and pleadings and trial practice.

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of criminal law, rules of evidence, court rules and rules of professional responsibility.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • High ethical standards, personally and professionally.
  • Willingness to follow office policies.

Education & Experience

  • Juris doctorate from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan.
  • At least three years of previous prosecutorial and trial experience strongly preferred.

Job Location/Physical Requirements

This position is based in a climate-controlled office building and courthouse with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Occasional lifting, twisting, kneeling, reaching, and transferring a maximum of 25 pounds may be required.
