Summary
Under the direction of Drs. Conor Walsh (Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences) and Fabrisia Ambrosio (Harvard Medical School & Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital), the post-doctoral fellow will lead a project dedicated to the creation and testing of instrumentation designed to promote skeletal muscle health and regenerative capacity through the application of mechanical or electrical stimuli. The ideal candidate will have experience with medical technologies, devices/instrumentation, as well as clinical studies. This candidate should also have interest in wet bench investigation and acquiring basic laboratory skills such as cell culture and biomarker analysis to test systemic biologic responses to mechanical or electrical stimulation protocols. Experience with pre-clinical model systems and studies is a strength, but not a requirement.

Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with both group members to develop design specifications for components of new electrical and mechanical stimulation concepts and contribute to the conceptualization, design, prototyping and testing of these components. Develop research plans for how components will be integrated into functional wearable devices.
Create documentation and representations of proposed research direction and electrical/mechanical stimulation systems so that they can be shared with team members and clinical collaborators.
Lead the testing of wearable technology components on bench top models during lab-based and clinic and human subject testing experiments.
Collect and document feedback and identify necessary metrics to measure and optimize various system parameters to meet research goals.
Contribute to the preparation of internal/external reports, presentations and grant applications. Report on goals and deliverables to project stakeholders, and provide progress updates at regular team meetings.

The post-doctoral fellow should be willing to mentor and work closely with students and/or research technicians.

Qualifications and Experience
Education/Degree
Required: PhD in biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or related field.
