VCA Animal Hospitals Veterinary Assistant Supervisor in Charleston, South Carolina

VCA Charles Towne Animal Hospital is hiring an experienced and motivated Veterinary Assistant Supervisor to lead our patient care team!

About Us

We are an AAHA-accredited 2-doctor practice in Charleston, SC, offering a variety of services including Primary Care, Surgery, and Dentistry. We are located in the West Ashley area of Charleston, close to great restaurants, shopping, and the Greenway trail.

Our hours are Monday through Friday 8am- 6pm, Saturdays 8am - 3pm, closed Sundays.

About the Role

As an Assistant Supervisor, you will put your skills and experience to great use. This is a working supervisory position, responsible for the leadership and development of the patient care team. You will have the support of the hospital and field leadership team in this role.

Technical duties will include:

  • Compassionate patient care

  • Client education and care

  • Venipuncture and catheter placement

  • Radiology and diagnostics

  • Lab sample collection and processing

  • Surgical preparation and assisting

  • Anesthesia monitoring

  • Dentistry

  • Medication preparation and administration

  • Safe and effective patient handling and restraint

  • Medical recordkeeping

Supervisory duties will include:

  • Providing leadership, training and support to our patient care team

  • Providing mentorship and training

  • Scheduling staff and conducting team meetings

  • Keeping the patient care team current on policies and procedures

  • Accurately handling and recording controlled drugs

  • Assist with inventory, equipment and facility maintenance

  • Assist with marketing and events

Ideal Qualifications

  • One or more years of leadership/management experience as a Veterinary Technician

  • South Carolina Veterinary Technician License (LVT) or eligible preferred

  • Strong emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills in working with your colleagues and pet parents

  • Comfortable with mentoring and training others

  • Strong technical skills with desire to continue to improve

  • Able to work well independently as well as part of a team

  • Flexible with work schedule

  • Proven ability to keep accurate patient records

  • Motivated, enthusiastic self-starter with a professional and positive outlook
