Responsible for the standardization of best practice within Total Joints Programming. The Total Joints Coordinator works in collaboration with Total Joint Physicians, hospital unit leadership and medical group stakeholders to integrate and coordinate services for this patient population. Responsible for development and implementation of initiatives to positively impact quality patient care as evidenced by improved patient outcomes measured by the Leapfrog Group, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid, Health Grades, and The Joint Commission. Scope of patients includes all elective total joint replacements, revisions & fractures of the knee and hip.

  • Assist Medical Director of Joint Replacement Program in strategic, financial, and operational planning for the Joint Replacement Program on behalf of medical group and physicians.

  • Assist Medical Director of Joint Replacement Program in the development, implementation, and monitoring of written operating policies and procedures as appropriate to render quality clinical care and patient services.

  • Oversees achievement in accrediting, licensing, and/or certified agency requirements.

  • Assist in the standardization and formulary for all supplies, devices, implants and equipment including information systems hardware and software used in the operation and delivery of the Joint Replacement Program.

  • Assist in preparing for and responding to third party payor audits concerning the medical necessity or quality of the Joint Replacement and Reconstruction Program services as well as other government inquiries, including the compilation and timely delivery of all required documentation.

  • Assists in the development of patient care programs and protocols in response to pay for performance programs of their party payors, including Medicare and Medicaid.

  • Assist in development and implementation of clinical care pathways, appropriate patient screening and evaluation methods for the orthopedic service line and related Joint Replacement Program.

  • Provide administrative support and representation of the Joint Replacement Program. Regularly meet with Medical Director of Joint Replacement Program to coordinate oversight of the program and plan periodic meetings with providers and staff involved in the Joint Replacement Program.

  • Assist Medical Director of Joint Replacement Program with preparing agenda for periodic meetings of the program.

  • Keep minutes or designate keeping of minutes and their distribution for periodic meetings of the program.

  • Keep records of work related to the Joint Replacement Program to allow a smooth transition to your eventual successor.

  • Assist Medical Director of Joint Replacement Program to coordinate physician and staff involvement in quality and patient safety initiatives.

  • Actively monitor and respond to corporate and Joint Replacement Program quality indicators - ambulatory and hospital related to inpatient and outpatient services.

  • Actively monitor the performance and overall quality of clinical practice(s) of the physicians and providers associated with Joint Replace Program.

  • Coordinate and participate in Joint Replacement Program and related clinical service quality and utilization review activities, including activities such as the review of patient outcomes against clinical benchmarks and/or evidence-based protocols and guidelines, performance of case reviews, credentialing and peer review, and ad hoc committee reviews.

  • Assist with developing and providing periodic community education programs on topics related to orthopedic services and the Joint Replacement Program.

  • Assist in the development of education for patients and personnel on developments and trends in orthopedic services, including evidence-based practices in orthopedic services.

  • Perform such other clinical and administrative duties as reasonably assigned by Medical Director Joint Replacement Program, the Director of Operations and Service Line Leadership.

  • Participates, supports and facilitates ad hoc committees i.e. process improvement

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Run reports, analyze data, enters and reconciles charges as assigned.

Licensure/Certification Required: Bachelors of Science in Nursing

Licensure/Certification Preferred: Specialty Certification

4 year/ Bachelors Degree in Healthcare related field (Required)

Masters Degree (Preferred)

3 years of experience with Orthopedic patients (Required)
