SAIC Systems Engineer in CHANTILLY, Virginia

Description

The Customer requires technical support and guidance for online operations infrastructure. This includes developing guidance for safely operating online and understanding how to apply the correct technology for accomplishing operational objectives. This also includes supporting new technical solutions for supporting online operations.

Work requirements

Deliver tradecraft guidance and technical and network solutions to meet the Customer’s online operational objectives.

Contractor Support; HRR; No

  • Be capable of configuring and maintaining Customer infrastructure.

  • Possess a solid understanding of the tradecraft necessary for operating securely online.

  • Keep current with internet technologies and services and understand their applicability and security implications for the Customer’s operations.

  • Research, develop, maintain, and document tradecraft and tools associated with the Customer’s online operations.

  • Conduct and provide quick-turn security and product assessments for new technologies utilized on the Customer’s network.

  • Communicate and collaborate across organizational boundaries.

  • Fully describe and document mission solution architecture and interfaces.

  • Comply with the Customer’s Risk Management (i.e., cyber security) Framework to ensure that the program addresses and mitigates vulnerabilities and risks identified throughout the lifecycle of the project.

  • Coordinate stakeholder engagements, such as user requirements sessions and operational planning.

  • Track work requirements and action items to meet program deadlines.

  • Use a Customer-approved tracking system for issues and problems.

  • Implement changes to current technical and networking solutions based on changing partner requirements, legislation, and policy.

  • Conduct functionality testing for existing operational systems and applications.

Qualifications

Required skills

Typical education and years of experience: Bachelor degree and fourteen years (14) or more of experience. Masters and twelve (12) years or more of experience. PhD and JD and nine (9) years of more of experience.

  • Demonstrated experience with networks, to include ability to understand network architecture diagrams, and related information.

  • Demonstrated experience with configuring and using Virtual Private Servers, Virtual Private Networks, and Virtual Private Clouds.

  • Demonstrated experience with virtual environments and emulated mobile devices.

  • Demonstrated experience with Android O/S to include an understanding of how the operating system works and its security settings.

  • Demonstrated experience with domestic and foreign social media and security implications associated with utilizing social media sites.

  • Demonstrated experience with commercial messaging applications and their security configurations.

  • Demonstrated experience performing technical analysis on networks and applications to evaluate security and applicability to online operations.

  • Demonstrated experience with browser security settings and add-ins.

  • Demonstrated experience with technical troubleshooting related to networks, hardware, internet services, and mobile applications.

  • Demonstrated experience defining, analyzing, tracking, and reviewing requirements.

Desired skills

  • Demonstrated experience consulting with customers to determine present and future user requirements.

  • Demonstrated experience communicating complex technical topics to non-technical individuals.

  • Demonstrated experience with working within commercial cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure, or similar).

  • Demonstrated experience utilizing network monitoring tools.

  • Demonstrated experience with understanding of network fundamentals, TCP/IP routing, switching, firewalls and VPNs, Ethernet, DS1, T1, routing concepts and routing protocols, HSRP, VRRP, DHCP, switching, 802.1Q, STP, VLANs, EtherChannel, IP Addressing, Subnetting and VPN.

  • Demonstrated experience with cloud networking concepts.

  • Demonstrated experience utilizing Tor as a means of obfuscating online activities.

  • Demonstrated experience with internet encryption protocols.

  • Degree or educational background in computer science, information science, systems engineering, or a related discipline.
