SAIC Space and Ground Systems Engineer in CHANTILLY, Virginia

Description

Be a part of an exciting, dynamic R&D environment, working on a team providing key insights to senior agency leaders. SAIC has an opening for an experienced engineer to provide Systems Engineering services to an IC research and development (R&D) customer. The customer organization applies research to real-world solutions, revolutionizing agency approaches in engineering, development, integration & test and operations with world-wide impacts. The customer servers as principal advisor to the senior officials on matters pertaining to the technical readiness and execution of programs and projects. This position provides Systems Engineering & Technical Advisory (SETA) support services.

Position responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Ensure R&D efforts are planned and conducted on a sound engineering basis with proper controls and management of programmatic risks

  • Assess impact of programmatic decisions

  • Participate in program reviews

  • Lead development of Enterprise success metrics, Governance Plan, Statement of Assurance, and directorate sponsored Directives and Instructions

  • Support communication of organization Vision, Goals, and Strategies

  • Identify gaps between needs and acquisition offices capabilities to provide inputs to strategic planning

  • Develop documents and briefings to communicate work or study status, brief government and industry as required

  • Maintain proficiency in various presentation delivery methodologies and software

  • Create briefings and publications of various projects and serve as primary coordinator

  • Review, Coordinate, and Integrate office inputs for Front Office communications and responses

  • Frequent interaction with government, SETA, FFRDC, and external stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI with Poly

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM (science, technical, engineering, math) or related discipline with at least 9 years related experience or Master’s degree in STEM with 7 years of relevant experience

  • 5 years relevant experience in systems engineering

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and energetic environment

  • Demonstrated ability to work on a cross-functional team

  • Effective interpersonal, briefing, and writing skills

  • Experience facilitating customer-driven meetings or technical forums

  • Demonstrated ability to work with MS Office applications

  • Understanding of core systems engineering and analysis disciplines and processes

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience providing on-site Systems Engineering and Technical Advisor (SETA) support in an advisory capacity to senior leaders

  • Advanced degree in STEM (science, technical, engineering, math) or related discipline

  • Experience with IC R&D organizations

  • Prior US military and/or IC customer experience
