Description
We have an immediate opening for a Ground Systems Engineer to fill a SETA (Scientific, Engineering, and Technical Assistance) position with the Space Development Agency (SDA). SDA is a fast-paced organization that is redefining DoD’s acquisition cycle norms and delivering a new Tranche of hundreds of satellites every two years.
The Ground Systems Engineer will be responsible for developing requirements, defining interfaces, performing technical reviews, developing strategic plans, overseeing the ground system contractor development, and providing general systems engineering support to SDA.
This position will be part of a team of LinQuest personnel providing SETA support to SDA in Chantilly, VA. Hybrid work arrangements are possible.
Position Overview
As a Ground Systems Engineer with LinQuest, you will work in a small and highly empowered team where every team member is directly responsible for the success of the program. You will apply knowledge and expertise to perform technical engineering support and analysis of spacecraft integration with ground systems and ground systems development. This position will be located in Chantilly, VA and occasional travel may be required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Performing the role of technical lead for the SDA Tranche 1 Ground Systems development, including supporting integration efforts across multiple SDA space vehicle vendors, and establishing the ground systems architecture and designs.
Provide systems engineering guidance in the development of test and evaluation plans, system verification plans, and other systems engineering processes and documents
Providing recommendations on systems integration and engineering baseline changes and assessing the technical maturity and risk of development projects
Assist Government personnel with potential solutions across a wide variety of multi-domain, tactical, and mission area applications, including ground entry point acquisitions, operations center set up and maintenance, and ground software solutions
Develop CONOPs and operational plans at both the system and mission enterprise levels
Coordinate development efforts with, and provide strategic advice as well as technical guidance to DoD and non-DoD agencies
Assist with system and subsystem design analysis, assembly, integration and testing, and data reduction of proposed technical solutions and formulating evaluation criteria of those solutions
Attending project meetings and reviews to include technical interchange meetings, design reviews, and program management reviews.
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, electrical engineer, systems engineering, physics, or a closely related field from an accredited university
15+ years of experience in systems engineering
Active Secret Clearance - TS/SCI Eligibility
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment
Strong oral and written communication skills
Preferred:
Master’s degree in aerospace engineering, electrical engineer, systems engineering, physics, or a closely related field from an accredited university
Experience in the DoD or Intelligence Community
Experience working with commercial and/or Government satellite systems and ground systems
Experience as a lead or chief engineer of a large satellite project or ground station project
Experience with ground system software and hardware
Experience with ground station antenna systems
