The MITRE Space Intelligence Systems Department is looking for a Lead Network Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) who wants to drive innovative solutions, thought leadership, and evidence-based recommendations so the Intelligence Community (IC) can deliver the benefits and services our Mission Partners depend on to make a positive impact in the world.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Development of Program and Technical Strategy and Execution for the following:

  • Applying network engineering skills in support of the National Space Portfolio (NSP) Sponsor's mission.

  • Working with experts in space and integrated ground domains with the opportunity to apply end-to-end terrestrial and MPLS/IP network expertise across a broad spectrum of technical disciplines / capabilities to bring the most current technologies to bear against sponsor's toughest challenges.

  • Also work with service providers to design, provision and maintain sponsor long haul communication networks - domestic and international, as well as, the MPLS/IP WAN/CAN/LAN networks.

  • Development of technical engineering reports geared for both technical and non-technical audiences / decision makers.

  • This position requires an on-site presence of 5 days a week.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Top Secret/SCI clearance and possess or be willing to obtain a polygraph.

  • BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a technical equivalent and 8 years of related experience.

  • Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.

  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with ability to obtain/maintain Polygraph.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • TS/SCI with poly.

  • Degree in Engineering with emphasis on Networking, or related technical field such as engineering, physics, mathematics, operations research, engineering management, computer science, or related STEM program.

  • Knowledge and experience with IP/MPLS networking as well as with fiber optical transport to include under sea cabling.

  • A working understanding of space systems and how they interact with ground systems.

  • Prior professional experience in the US Intelligence, Space, or Defense Community.
