Koniag Professional Services, a Koniag Government Services Company, is seeking an IHS Community Crisis Response Curriculum and Training Specialist with a Public Trust Clearance to support KPS and our government customer. This is a Remote Opportunity.

Koniag Government Services seeks a Curriculum and Training Specialist familiar with public health, health systems, issues related to suicide and suicide prevention. This position will be focused on providing subject matter expertise and technical assistance to develop various curricula and trainings for national programs for American Indian and Alaska Native communities. You will work with Indian Health Service (IHS) staff to create these materials; provide training and implement best practices.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide expert-level curriculum development and training to the Indian Health Service

  • Ensure that all training is contextually relevant and culturally appropriate, and that training incorporates adult learning techniques and best practices to achieve the desired training objectives.

  • Develop a Crisis Call Center Toolkit specifically designed for American Indian and Alaska Native communities, including curriculum and training materials.

  • Take guidance from government leads to conduct a literature review to inform the development of both training and toolkits.

  • Design and deliver Lethal Means Restriction counseling and education training for IHS healthcare providers.

  • Provide administrative support for the rollout of the ASQ (Ask Suicide-Screening Questions) program within IHS.

  • Collaborate with staff to assist in the development of community crisis response plans.

  • Assist in conducting environmental scans to assess needs and resources in tribal communities.

  • Document all program development activities and submit reports to IHS leadership via Program Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in social work, public health, psychology, or education.

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in curriculum development.

  • Demonstrated expertise in developing culturally competent training materials and programs.

  • Strong understanding of suicide prevention best practices.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, and possess strong interpersonal communication skills.

  • Highly organized, systematic, and proactive in delivering/preparing materials and meeting client expectations within a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated experience working in a complex team-based environment in a consulting-type organization focused on enterprise transformation initiatives.

  • Travel may be required.

  • The successful candidate will be passionate about improving mental health services for American Indian and Alaska Native communities.

Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, Education, or related field required.

  • Master's degree in social work, Education, or related field preferred

  • 10 years of related experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of working with Native American or Alaskan Native populations

  • Experience in Suicide Prevention, Training Development & Delivery, Federal Government Consulting

  • Knowledge and understanding of Computer Based Training and Learning Management Systems, how they function and how to interpret/meet requirements for varying systems.

  • Ability to obtain a valid U.S. Government PUBLIC TRUST security clearance required.

Working Environment & Conditions

This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress.

The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
