Universal Engineering Sciences Geotechnical Project Manager with PE Chantilly, Virginia
As a Project Manager , you will be responsible for project management and oversight of assigned projects for the Geotechnical department. This position will complete projects for both new and existing clients.
Responsibilities
Travel safely to various job sites in a company provided vehicle when necessary
Manage the full lifecycle of geotechnical engineering projects
Mentor geotechnical engineers, geologists, project manager and technicians
Provide on-site project management as required
Ensure projects adhere to geotechnical engineering best practices, safety standards and quality control procedures
Perform technical review of proposals, reports and calculations
Create, prepare and update project proposals and technical reports in a timely manner
Develop and manage projects with new and existing clients, ensuring profitability
Review, update and approve invoices weekly for on-going projects
Maintain excellent communication both verbally and electronically with senior management, other project managers, field staff and colleagues
Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality and integrity
Follow all company safety procedures and policies
Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record
Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college/university
Required: Professional Engineer (PE) license preferably in VA, DC, MD or able to get reciprocity for those states
Required: 2-3 years of Geotechnical/CMT full-time work experience with degree
Knowledge of geotechnical and construction materials testing methods, ASTM standards, and soil classifications
Ability to calculate results from geotechnical/construction materials testing data
Ability to read and interpret construction documents
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
Ability to write technical reports, proposals, business correspondences and/or procedure manuals as needed
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, detailed reports, short correspondence and memos
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to use technology/computer
Strong leadership skills and an eye for detail
Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
Days and hours for this position are typically Monday-Friday
Some weekend, overtime work and/or overnight work and travel may be required
You may be required to drive hundreds of miles per day within the Mid-Atlantic region
Office work requiring long-term sitting and computer work
Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions such as wet and/or humid environments, extreme cold and/or heat, dusty and noisy work environments
Typically, this position involves 75% office work and 25% field work, depending on the week/work
Ability to use your senses to see (including close, distant and peripheral vision, depth vision and ability to focus), smell, hear and touch (use your hands to reach, climb or balance, crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit)
Ability to occasionally lift and/or move/shake up to 40lbs. (soil and/or concrete tests and related apparatus); frequently lift and/or move up to 60lbs. (soil and sand samples, and nuclear density equipment); and occasionally move more than 100lbs. (such as a loaded wheelbarrow of concrete samples)
