Located in Northern Virginia, we are a $40+ Mill Non Profit organization that provides quality services to enable individuals with a wide range of disabilities to live as independently as possible. With over 500 employees supporting over 1000 people annually we are seeking a controller who has a passion for numbers and people.

Position Overview

The Controller will be the critical hands-on leader for the accounting team. Managing a team of eleven and responsible for the functions of general accounting, claims, grants and contract revenue, purchasing, accounts payable and payroll. They will report to the VP&CFO.

responsibilities:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage general ledger, payroll, payables, billing, receivables, and property accounting.

  • Responsible for development, implementation and verification of internal controls

  • Manage the annual budget process and support various ad-hoc projects and business cases.

  • Collaborate with others in the organization to improve performance and processes. Take an inclusive approach to decision making and information sharing.

  • Functional ownership of the accounting systems.

qualifications:

Requirements:

  • CPA required. Experience with Medicaid reimbursements and an electronic health record system, or equivalent, preferred.

  • BS degree in Accounting or Finance

  • Previous experience at the controller level in similar size organization

  • Proficient in MS Office, including Excel, Word & PowerPoint; Great Plains or comparable G/L experience in an environment supporting multiple legal entities, consolidations and affiliated companies.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills and an ability to communicate with a diverse workforce with clinical teams mostly in remote locations
