Electrical Engineer

Job Description

Summary:

The candidate will be responsible for managing and developing electrical projects, specializing in designing custom circuit boards for applications including high-voltage ballasts, DC-DC and AC-DC converters, LED lighting, and smart control systems. The Engineer’s responsibilities also include embedded programming, component procurement, debugging, and diagnostics. The Electrical Engineer must drive innovation, solve complex technical challenges, and ensure designs meet quality and regulatory requirements, such as UL and FCC standards.

Responsibilities

  1. Design and develop electrical circuits and systems.

  2. Perform testing and validation of designs.

  3. Manage engineering projects, including planning and coordination.

  4. Prepare technical documentation and ensure compliance with standards.

  5. Provide leadership and support to team members and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

3+ years of experience in electrical engineering

Strong written and verbal communication

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (preferred, but not required)

Hard Skills

  • Core Electrical Engineer skillset

  • Power Supply design

  • PCB Board Design and manufacturing (DipTrace, Altium, Eagle, etc.)

  • MCU programming (Java/C/etc.)

  • Sensor usage (proximity sensors, IR)

Soft Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication

  • Project management

  • Leadership and team support

Job Type

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 12 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Champaign, Illinois.

Work Environment

Small engineering team in an office setting (air temperature controlled). They will mainly be working out of the R&D facility with the Sr Electrical Engineer and a couple of additional engineers on the team. Manufacturing/production line is just down the road along with their HQ offices, just a 2-minute walk. The director of operations and Production Managers are typically back and forth supporting both facilities/teams
