Reference #: 4527787 THE POSITION The Department of Transportation is currently on the lookout for a highly skilled individual to take on the role of Highway Equipment Manager 2. In this position, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire highway equipment program for PennDOT's Franklin County Maintenance Organization. Your duties will include managing the maintenance, repair, and dispatch of a diverse fleet of heavy construction and automotive equipment. Additionally, you will be in charge of supervising the equipment repair facilities and the dedicated personnel. Furthermore, you will be responsible for ensuring the upkeep of the building, grounds, stockpiles, and facilities used for equipment storage and maintenance. In this position, you will be responsible for organizing, planning, and implementing a preventative maintenance program for equipment and buildings within a county maintenance organization. This includes creating schedules, conducting inspections, and determining the need for repairs or replacements. You will also be tasked with negotiating with dealers and garage owners to ensure fair pricing for repairs, parts, and warranty inspections. Additionally, you will oversee equipment operator training, testing, and certification programs to ensure that all operators are qualified to operate assigned equipment. Another aspect of this role involves managing equipment and tool inventories, monitoring usage, and assigning equipment to operators. You will also be responsible for approving the purchase of shop and foreman tools, as well as preparing reports on time, progress, and equipment usage to submit to supervisors. Furthermore, you will administer the rented equipment program, recommend emergency part requisitions for repairs, and participate in accident investigations involving state-owned equipment. You will also coordinate fleet accident reporting and damage repairs, as well as facilitate the transfer of equipment between counties.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year of experience as a Highway Equipment Manager 1; or Three years of experience in the repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel engines and other components of heavy highway maintenance and construction vehicles and equipment including two years of such experience in a supervisory or administrative capacity; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Conditions of Employment:

This position requires possession of a valid Class A or Class B Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Air Brakes Restriction removed and tank (N) and HAZMAT (H) or Tank/HAZMAT (X) endorsements.

This position requires possession of a valid Class 4 or Class 7 Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Inspection Mechanic Certification.
