Responsible for the logistics management department of the UK & IRE GE Healthcare PDx entity, supporting import shipments from GEHC/CMO manufacturing sites and supporting warehousing and distribution in UK and Ireland. The role also leads the PDx transformation in global freight with introduction of Oracle Transport Management (OTM) an inhouse GEHC control tower system.

The role impacts UK operations, projects and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. Impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team. Has significant input into the global logistics priorities and the global logistics strategy roadmap for global freight. Guided by professional practices and policies Dangerous Goods (DG), Customs, International Trade & Compliance (ITC), Airfreight security that are shaped by the role. The role has high autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgement.

Job Description

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the UK & Ireland ogistics budget and team performance.

  • Coach and lead the UK& Ireland logistics team.

  • Driving efficiencies in the UK & Ireland logistics supply chain, importation into market and subsequent distribution.

  • Responsible for managing the relationship and strategic business reviews (SBR) of the logistics partners.

  • Responsible for on-time delivery of all new product introductions (NPI) across UK supply chain.

  • Responsible for day-to-day GDP compliance.

  • Develop and lead end-to-end logistics solutions to achieve required on-time pick up & delivery of goods. Manage Logistics Costs to meet budgets and Op Plans.

  • Developing specialized knowledge (DG class 7 / radioactive safety / GDP / Customs / ITC / Airfreight security). Ensuring training of these requirements in markets supplied with radioactive shipments.

  • Responsible to lead PDx on the transformation journey for global freight to use OTM effectively in manufacturing sites and with approved freight carriers.

  • Identification and mitigation of the risks identified on the PDx GL risk register (e.g. identifying additional airline capacity for MI supply)

  • Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility

  • Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market

  • Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.

  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Develops talent & next level leaders.

  • Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.

  • Part of the Global Logistics leadership team and represents Logistics in UK business leadership team.

PRINCIPAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • This role requires several years of significant experience across multi-site Logistics operations, preferably within pharma and/or radioactive experience.

  • Proven execution skills, with the ability to meet firm deadlines.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Power Point

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a logistics related field.

  • Proficient in leading and setting direction for teams, including demonstrated ability to motivate, influence and drive change at all levels of the organization.

  • Creates or revitalizes teams by leading change initiatives delivering significant growth and profitability improvement

  • Drives growth and innovation effectiveness through influence and collaborate across functions
