Job Description:

Principal Drainage Designer – Road & Highway/ Hydrology – Virtual Based – Part-Time

Opportunity :

Ready to put your civil design skills to work on marquee road and highway design projects that will change the urban fabric of our community? Would you enjoy being involved on a wide variety of civil engineering design tasks on small to large scale, transportation projects? Parsons is now hiring a Principal Civil Designer for road and highway projects, for various transportation projects in Northern and Central California. There also could be some rail & transit related projects as well.

In this role: you will be engaged in all aspects of road and highway geometric design , and modeling. Perform quality design and any technical reports. Deliver critical design components regarding project scope. Experience with road and highway alignment projects is essential. This is a part-time role. Virtual remote work is permitted.

Responsibilities :

  • Will perform geometric horizontal alignment design of various road and highway projects supporting Caltrans and other municipal clients in California. This work will be done utilizing Microstation and/or Autocad Civil 3D primarily.

  • Independently develops and/or supervises the creation of design products that meet customer quality requirements. This includes defining the problem, establishing the work scope, preparing the budget and schedule, planning the work, providing technical direction, and reporting the work status.

  • Typical products may include , drawings, procurement documents, design and installation packages, proposal evaluations, technical reports, and detailed analyses.

  • Provides support for other engineering activities as required. May supervise one or more subordinates and provide input regarding performance.

  • May be assigned to a project or organizational team, or as a lead designer for a specific discipline on a small to intermediate-size project.

  • Provides input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project.

  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Requirements :

A 2 year technical degree or equivalent is preferred.

At least 10 years of relevant design work experience with highway design, including geometric alignments

Proficiency with a combination of the following software is desired: Microstation, Bentley InRoads, or Open Roads, and/ or Autocad Civil 3D.

Salary Range:

$40.05 - $70.10
