JOB GOAL:

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

As part of The Hotel at Kirkwood Centers professional staff, sells campus catering functions, manages site visits, creates sales contracts and assists with functions as necessary. Provides leadership and guidance to the Café Catering Assistant and coordinates meeting space and food and beverage requirements for clients .Represents the college in the most positive manner with prospective, former and current students, clients, suppliers and the community we serve.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sells campus catering functions, manages site visits, creates sales contracts and assists with functions as necessary.

  • Coordinates meeting space and food and beverage requirements for clients.

  • Resolve customer complaints regarding sales and service.

  • Determine price schedules and discount rates.

  • Review operational records and reports to project sales and determine profitability.

  • Monitor customer preferences to determine focus of sales efforts.

  • Prepare budgets and approve budget expenditures.

  • Confer or consult with department heads to plan advertising services and to secure information on equipment and customer specifications.

  • Direct and coordinate activities involving sales of catering and hospitality services.

  • Direct the work of events personnel.

  • Adhere to event planning schedule, polices and guidelines

  • Explain policies and procedures for use of Campus Catering and its facilities to clients and the general public

  • Maintain compliance with required training as designated by supervisor.

  • Calculate and provide clients all estimates of potential costs incurred in completing an event.

  • Prepare checklists of requirements for distribution and communicate all details to appropriate hotel personnel.

  • Ensure that setup of chairs, tables, stages, decorations or other equipment is in accordance with contract requirements and with safety standards and fire and health codes.

  • Make or arrange for last minute adjustments in room or equipment setup at the request of client.

  • Review or check the work products of others to ensure conformance to standards.

  • Ensures facilities are open and secure before and after events.

  • In the absence of the General Manager manage daily operations of The Café.

  • Perform other related work duties as assigned.

  • Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements, including the health code.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum two-year degree required.

  • Must have a minimum of two years full-time management experience in a related hospitality setting or the equivalent education and related work experience.

  • Must have valid driver’s license and own transportation.

  • Must be able to demonstrate/develop computer skills including but not limited to Salesforce, Micros/Simphony and Microsoft Office

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:

Preference will be given to ServSafe certified candidate.
