Summary

The ISO Process Engineer will ensure accuracy, consistency and quality of all plant manufacturing processes. He/she will develop, implement and execute process improvement projects, with the goal of increasing manufacturing efficiency and profitability, while reducing process variation. When applicable, the Process Engineer will execute approved capital improvements, by coordinating with the Plant or Project Engineer and department managers on timelines, budget and resources needed. An effective Process Engineer will use hierarchy of values (Safety, Quality, Service and Cost) in prioritizing his/her activities, while supporting each department’s quality goals and improvement plans.

The Process Engineer reports to the ISO Production Manager, supporting the production of PolyIso insulation (ISO). This role will be highly engaged and supportive of all employees in the plant, including production and maintenance. This employee will safely contribute to a highly motivated and positive environment.

Essential Duties

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support all plant product qualifications, process capability studies, raw materials trials/qualifications and product development/improvement projects

  • Work with Manufacturing Technology Manager, ISO Plant Manager and Technical Services Manager to support all R&D Department Plant Trial Requests (PTR’s). Ensure trials are accurately conducted and reported per required standards, timelines and accounting cycles

  • Identify production or process problems and prepare/implement solutions as needed, using standard PI tools such as QualPro, MVT/DOE and Kepner-Tregoe problem solving techniques

  • Conduct and document quality tests for finished product approvals.

  • Communicate effectively with management team to regarding resources needed to ensure timely and accurate execution of process improvement projects

  • Performs PPA/FMEA on all major process and raw material changes

  • Work with the Plant Engineer and Department Managers to prepare and submit process-related requests for capital expenditures

  • Manage the application and interpretation of SPC charting and teach all machine operators the benefits of the tool and how to input data

  • Comply with and enforce established quality policies and procedures

  • Conduct compliance audits of production tests, process specifications, plant change notices (PCN’s) and other in-plant processes

  • Participates in plant technical support activities as required to achieve plant goals

  • Demonstrate a high level of commitment to safety ad be a leader in the areas of housekeeping and organization

  • Perform other duties as assigned by ISO Production Manager and others

  • Schedule - Our Cedar City team leaders will always do the best we can to confirm and communicate work schedules in advance if business conditions change. Typically, the ISO team works Monday through Fridays, aligned with the current production schedule.

Under This Roof, We Require

  • A BS degree in Engineering, ChE, EE or ME or related field

  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering fundamentals

  • Knowledge of manufacturing concepts, safety practices and procedures

  • Positive attitude, ability to adapt, manage stress and contribute to a team environment

  • Ability to communicate, both written, and orally, in English

  • A minimum three to five years process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred

  • The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to safety and have experience with manufacturing controls (preferably PLC and HMI)

  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve production challenges

  • Proficiency in Google Suite, including email and shared drives
