We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Software Programmer within our GSG/Machinery divisionteam to help support our Bedding business. As a Software Programmer, you will be responsible for collaborative design, testing, and troubleshooting new components. This position requires a strong technical background in machine design, programming, and systems integration, as well as excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.

So, what will you be doing as a Software Programmer?

  • Design, program, and troubleshoot prototype and existing machines, including their Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs)

  • Develop and implement coordinated motion systems

  • Utilize various Microsoft operating systems (e.g., CE, Windows 7, Windows 10)

  • Apply Internet of Things (IoT) concepts in machine design and functionality

  • Program using Microsoft Visual Basic, Visual C++, and C#

  • Configure and manage OPC Servers

  • Work with Microsoft databases for data management and analysis

  • Design and maintain network architectures

  • Perform complex engineering calculations as needed

  • Create and update detailed technical drawings and logic diagrams

  • Manage component introductions and changes, ensuring effective communication throughout the process

  • Specify appropriate board level and system components

  • Develop test procedures and protocols for technicians

  • Document test results and generate comprehensive summary reports

  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, purchasing, and external vendors

    To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS)

  • 2-3 years Programming experience

  • Demonstrated experience in many of the listed responsibilities

  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally, and communicate and interact effectively with customers and suppliers

    Things we consider a plus:

  • Hands on experience in troubleshooting servo systems, electro-mechanical systems, test engineering

  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently

  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical departments

  • Self motivated, organized, attentive to detail
