Robert Half Sr. Cost Accountant in Cartersville, Georgia
Description We are inviting applications for a Sr. Cost Accountant role based in Cartersville, Georgia. This position will be an integral part of our financial accounting team, focusing on cost accounting and analysis, account reconciliation, and general ledger management. The role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity, providing an excellent chance to make a long-term impact in our organization.
Responsibilities:
• Perform month-end and quarter-end accounting tasks, including journal entries, account reconciliation, variance analysis, and reports/statement preparation.
• Engage with supervisors/managers in annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Oversee bank accounts, term deposits, commercial papers, and other investments, and reconcile total funds available to the general ledger.
• Validate invoices for payment and track capital expenditures.
• Monitor and report on current and future capital projects, ensuring compliance with codes of practice and principles.
• Develop and manage the capital expenditure plan and analyze proposed projects to optimize the portfolio.
• Assist with the forecast process for costs related to capital projects.
• Conduct financial close out work associated with projects, including capitalization guidance and post project completion audits.
• Reconcile key GL accounts, such as accounts payable, payroll, prepaids, accruals, etc.
• Prepare documentation in accordance with Statutory & Taxation requirements.
• Prepare and maintain relevant SOX narratives and identify ways to implement performance improvement.
• Provide training and development to team members as needed including training in financial systems. Requirements • Must possess expertise in Cost Accounting.
• Proficiency in Cost Analysis is required.
• Experience with Account Reconciliation is necessary.
• Familiarity with General Ledger is expected.
• Knowledge of Month End Close processes is essential.
• Proficiency in using SAP software is required.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are necessary.
• Must possess excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Must have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy is required.
• Must possess strong organizational and time management skills.
• Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information is necessary.
• Must have the ability to meet deadlines and manage stress effectively in high-pressure situations.
• Understanding and experience in financial regulations and legislation is essential.
