The Role

We are seeking a visionary and strategic leader to join our organization as the SVP of Custom Networks. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the development and execution of our custom networks delivery strategy, driving growth, innovation, and excellence in delivering tailored network solutions to our customers. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of network design, planning, deployment and operations as well as technology trends, and client needs, along with a proven track record of leading successful mass network deployment initiatives.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive custom networks strategy aligned with Lumen’s overall business objectives, priorities, financial strategy and customer needs.

  • Build the Custom Networks Organization operational road map required to deliver reliable, scalable, and flexible services to customers.

  • Develop a model that enables early engagement of the Custom Networks Organization to assist in developing customized solutions to improve win rates, ensure what is sold can be delivered on time and at the right cost, and there is alignment on customer outcomes between Sales, Solutions, Product and the Custom Networks organization.

  • Build rigorous governance, contract management and change control processes ensuring customers are billed for all work performed and drive upsell of services.

  • Collaborate with Finance and the Enterprise Operations PMO organization to develop and manage the Custom Networks Organization project execution and budgets, ensuring effective allocation of resources to support strategic initiatives with dedicated project management per customer deliverable.

  • Meet all financial and operating targets with an eye on reducing costs while meeting and exceeding performance targets through process discipline and ongoing technology evolution.

  • Prioritize network reliability and performance, implementing rigorous quality assurance processes throughout the deployment lifecycle.

  • Lead the identification of emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and differentiation in Lumen’s custom network offerings.

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and contractors involved in network deployment, ensuring a timely delivery of projects.

  • Stay abreast of relevant regulations and compliance requirements in the telecommunications industry.

  • Provide regular reports and updates to both customers and executive leadership and stakeholders on the progress, benefits, and impact of strategic initiatives across the Custom Networks organization.

  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the performance and success of custom network initiatives. Monitor performance against targets, identify areas for improvement, and implement actions as needed to drive continuous improvement to achieve business objectives.

  • Attract and retain best-in-class talent and ensure the organization has the appropriate blend of skills to be best positioned for the future. Provide strategic direction, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to drive team engagement, growth, and success.

What We Look For in a Candidate

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field; Master's degree preferred or equivalent experience.

  • 15+ years of experience in network architecture, design, implementation or infrastructure, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role.

  • Proven record of leading successful network deployment initiatives, driving revenue growth, and delivering value to clients.

  • Deep understanding of network technologies, architectures, and emerging technologies.

  • Experience driving operational transformation and change management initiatives.

  • Experience redesigning and automating processes by leveraging technology and data that result in significant operational improvement.

  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate client needs into innovative custom solutions.

  • Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.

  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and changing environment, with agility, resilience, and a customer-centric mindset.

  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.

Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.

$236,410 - $315,210 in these states: AR ID KY LA ME MS NE SC SD

$248,850 - $331,800 in these states: AL AZ FL GA IA IN KS MO MT ND NM OH OK PA TN UT VT WI WV WY

$261,300 - $348,390 in these states: CO HI MI MN NC NH NV OR RI

$273,740 - $364,980 in these states: AK CA CT DC DE IL MA MD NJ NY TX VA WA

As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
