Rocket Software Senior Software Asset Manager in Carson City, Nevada

Job Description Summary:

Job Overview: Member of the License and Contract Modernization (“LCM”) team that oversees the management of software assets: controls, acquisition, decommissions, compliance, maintenance renewals, life cycle planning, capacity planning and costing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Collaborate with cross-functional deal teams on research, analysis, and strategies to identify and select software license compliance engagements so as to optimize Rocket’s revenue potential from each software asset management opportunity.

  • Manage selected software license compliance engagements, maintain contact with the customer and determine which data is required for an effective review or audit. If necessary, perform visits on site and document and file calculations and results. Issues are flagged and discussed with clients and followed up with management in a timely manner so appropriate action can be taken.

  • Write or ghost write formal correspondence to customers regarding licensing issues that require remediation in close collaboration with internal and external lawyers.

  • Coordinate ongoing development of audit methodologies, customer account targeting strategies, and data gathering tools adapted to the various Rocket’ software products.

  • Track, analyze, and report internally on all software asset management projects and performance.

  • Actively participate in weekly team calls to facilitate sales’ forecast calls as well as quarterly business reviews.

  • Contribute to ongoing training of field sales and other Rocket teams around license compliance and extended usage rights selling skills.

  • Contribute to and collaborate on revisions to the Rocket’s standard license agreements, as well as assist on individual negotiations involving deviations from Rocket’s standard terms and conditions.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in software asset management team in enterprise software companies.

  • Superior negotiation skills, particularly in resolving disagreements.

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills

  • Expertise with software contract analysis and interpretation.

  • Ability to work independently in a distributed team environment while engaging multiple stakeholders from across multiple Rocket teams: Sales, Legal, Support, Business Operations, Product Management, etc.

  • Facility with Microsoft Office software and customer relationship management systems.
