Lead Material Generalist
Position Summary
Under general supervision, the Lead Material Generalist is responsible for leading a small team in maintaining inventory controls, material handling, receiving, putting away parts, and picking parts up in time for production needs in a manner that demonstrates, “Everything is Important.” You will mentor and train new employees in the department. The goal is to ensure the smooth, damage?free, and timely material flow to support our operations.
Essential Functions
Responsible for the picking and kitting schedule and accuracy
Trains and develops Material Generalists on the job
Serves as the point of contact for urgent parts needs
Fulfills inventory pick requests and compiles full car-part kits for production
Receives inventory into MRP and conducts paper and visual inspections
Manages inventory levels within MRP and transactions for inventory moves
Manages advanced kitting system (Kanban, line-side replenishment, etc.)
Maintains accurate inventory counts and storage locations within ERP/MRP
Proactively reports minimum stock levels
Supports inventory tracking and audits
Follows relevant processes and procedures
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Required Education/Experience
High school diploma (or equivalent)
Four (4) years relevant work experience
Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems
Preferred Education/Experience and/or Certifications
Associate degree
Two (2) years relevant work experience, plus two (2) years at Singer
Knowledge working in Fishbowl or similar MRP systems
Experience in aerospace or automotive manufacturing
Prior experience in rapid growth environment
Skills/Abilities and Attributes
Proficient using Microsoft Products (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point, Access)
Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems
Team oriented, strong ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment to multiple deadlines
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively and efficiently
Excellent time management skills with an ability to balance multiple projects and timelines and to meet deadlines
Physical Demands/Work Environment
Must be able to lift 25 to 30 lbs. regularly
Must be able to lift, stand, climb, bend, grasp, sit, pull, push, stoop, stretch, and carry to perform the functions of this position
Must be able to speak clearly and distinctly and hear and be heard and understood in person and by telephone
Must be able to work an early schedule and work overtime when needed
Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the production environment
Compensation
The starting salary range for this position is between $29.00 - $36.00 per hour, plus an annual bonus plan. Actual compensation will be determined by skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
