Director, Software Verification

The Director of Software Verification and Test Automation is a key leadership role in determining the future software verification and Test Automation direction of some of Allegion’s most mission- critical digital products. This management position leads a team of Software Verification and Test Automation Engineers that support the Global Software Solutions portfolio of custom software solutions including Yonomi, Zentra, Mobile Credentials, Schlage Home, and others. The software verification team is involved in the entire product development lifecycle from understanding the user needs, product use cases, software design to ensure robust test strategy and test case development and lead the Software Verification Organization to implement industry best practices.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage, develop and grow our core software verification team responsible for the quality of our software products.

  • Develop and implement the overall software testing strategy with a focus on strengthening test automation, and roadmap for the organization.

  • Define and enforce software testing standards, processes, and best practices across the organization.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software development, product management, and quality assurance, to ensure effective testing and release of high-quality software.

  • Oversee the design and execution of test scripts and frameworks to validate software functionality, performance, and reliability.

  • Identify opportunities for test automation and drive the adoption of automation tools and frameworks to streamline the testing process.

  • Monitor, triage and track software defects, ensuring timely resolution and driving continuous improvement in defect prevention, including through automation.

  • Evaluate and implement appropriate testing tools, frameworks, and technologies to optimize the automation testing process.

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in automation testing methodologies to drive innovation and improvement in testing practices.

  • Mentor and coach a team of software test professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.

  • Establish and provide regular reports and updates on testing progress, key metrics, and product quality to stakeholders and senior management.

  • Collaborate with external vendors, partners, and clients to ensure effective coordination and integration of software testing activities.

  • Drive test engineering effort through providing technical expertise and process guidance

  • Own the quality and reliability of our software products

  • Work with senior engineering leadership to advocate and drive high-quality engineering practices within the team and across the organization

What we’re looking for:

  • 17+ years of software quality engineering experience  

  • 8+ years of engineering leadership experience  

  • Strong track record of building and leading world-class quality engineering teams that deliver

  • Strong focus in your career on automation

  • Experience with managing quality engineers on multiple global teams

  • Experience managing software verification leaders and managers   

  • Experience interacting with executive leadership team and the ability to explain engineering principles

  • Experience working with offshore teams, preferably India

  • Focused on developing your team by leading with a servant leader approach

  • A strong focus on driving employee engagement

  • Proven record of coaching Quality Engineering Managers through difficult situations

  • Experience working with software, firmware, hardware, product, project management, etc.

  • Demonstrable ability to learn and adapt to new and continually evolving technologies, processes, customer needs, and business requirements 

  • Capable of diving into the automation code for reviews

  • Understanding of Scaled Agile Frameworks (SAFe)

  • Experience with coordinating meetings with individuals in multiple time zones

  • Experience with Azure and AWS security procedures and improvements

  • Experience with delivering quality high availability cloud software platforms

  • Experience with delivering quality high availability web solutions and mobile applications

Compensation: This range is provided by Allegion. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience.

  • The expected Base Salary Range: $154,700 - $273,400. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.

  • Bonus Eligible: Yes

  • Equity Eligible: Yes
