Phillips 66 Materials/Logistic Associate, Carlsbad NM in Carlsbad, New Mexico

The Materials/Logistic Associate will be responsible for supervising materials management processes at the Business Unit (BU) and site for operations, maintenance, and projects. The incumbent should be knowledgeable and proficient in all facets of materials management processes, systems, and procedures.

Responsibilities May Include:

  • Developing and executing the P66 procurement strategy

  • Work with the Director of Materials Management to align BU/site performance to functional goals

  • Maintain applicable warehouse and materials management industry best practices to deliver effective inventory management and warehouse solutions

  • Manage, motivate, and lead the BU/site warehouse staff

  • Build team performance and assure target performance metrics/customer service levels are met

  • Monitor performance/progress of staff through training plans and developmental assignments

  • Lead the implementation, adoption, and compliance of Materials Management Standards and Key Procedures with a focus on inventory optimization and physical preservation of inventory

  • Lead the development and implementation of Warehousing strategies

  • Ensure warehouse(s) at designated BU/sites are operated within policy and procedures including all Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) requirements and all required internal controls

  • Coordinate all phases of materials handling /storage at the BU/site level including the receipt, inspection, storage (On and off-site), work packing, counting, returns, retrieval/issue, transfer, and timely delivery to designated delivery points

  • Conduct annual and periodic inventories, audit monthly inventory reports, and investigate errors to maintain optimum inventory performance/accuracy

  • Ensure security procedures are in place to protect stock from theft, loss, or misuse

  • Support Investment Recovery program at the BU/site level for the management and disposition of surplus materials

  • Work with stakeholders to identify and eliminate root causes of dead stock and excess inventory

  • Manage material coordination at the BU/site level focused on planning, identifying, requisitioning, expediting, staging, and issuing allocated material in a cost effective and timely manner

  • Participate in development and implementation of BU/site plans to support routine and turnaround maintenance including work process plans, material buying plans, reporting, and staffing plans

  • Collaborate with Business Improvement team regarding SAP and relevant IT applications to ensure effective functional use with timely data maintenance and ongoing user training

  • Monitor and ensure accuracy of the ERP item master to meet standards of Master Data Management

  • Use SAP to drive utilization of available system functionality by BU/Site warehousing staff and business stakeholders to improve efficiency and effectiveness of materials management and warehousing processes

  • Participate in the Materials Management Network

  • Plan Warehouse staffing/activities to meet company's objectives, targets, and service levels

  • Produce KPI /statistical reports and utilizes metric analysis to measure and monitor warehouse improvement

  • Provide analysis and solutions regarding continuous improvement of materials management and warehousing processes

  • Maintain competencies of warehouse staff

  • Provide, document, and ensure that all staff training requirements and certifications are met

  • Identify needs and opportunities to develop proficiencies and skills required to sustain a capable workforce

  • Network/collaborate with all BU/site departments requiring materials support and schedule crew to meet requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent

  • Valid driver’s license

  • 1 or more years of experience in warehouse or inventory management

  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • Willingness and ability to perform and comply with following, with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • To raise and transport articles weighing up to 50 pounds

  • To walk, stand, stoop, sit, climb, and carry material on a daily basis

  • To work alone

  • To wear personal protective equipment (such as hard hat, steel toe shoes, ear and eye protection, etc.)

  • To operate a forklift

  • To work on day shift from 7:00 am to 3:30pm Monday through Friday

  • To work occasional overtime

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Supervisor experience with materials management, maintenance, or operations

  • Working knowledge or experience with refinery, chemical plant, or midstream work processes

  • Proficient computer skills with experience in formulating reports and extracting data from various computer programs including SAP, ONIQUA, Microsoft Access and Microsoft Excel, SAP MDG

  • Working knowledge of SAP material master, materials management, purchasing, and reporting modules
