Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking anAdministrative Assistantto join our Acquisition Services team located in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Not a remote position

The successful candidate will support the Administrative Services function. The Administrative Assistant will perform routine administrative duties including answering phones, making travel arrangements, scheduling meetings, assisting with internal and external correspondence, meeting minutes, coordinating records, tracking commitments, updating calendars, and preparing reports.

The position requires ability to interact professionally with multiple levels of management, employees, and job applicants. Must exercise good judgement, discretion, and professionalism in all matters. A strong command of office software and technical proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite is necessary along with document and file organization skills, time management, multitasking, adaptability and flexibility aptitude.

Non-Exempt Grade 24-26

Minimum Requirements: These requirements must be met to be considered for this posting. Uploaded resumes and applications are the means of determination.

  • Associate-s degree with two (2) years of experience as an Administrative Assistant, or

  • High School diploma or GED plus four (4) years of experience as an Administrative Assistant or similar role (e.g. Legal Secretary) is required.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite is mandatory. Proficiency in use of Adobe Acrobat Pro, Documentum, and digital communication skills (e.g. Teams) are a plus.

Higher education attainment than listed acceptable per internal level identifiers of accompanying years of experience.

Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience working with confidential, legal, and business sensitive information is preferred

  • Proficiency in use of Adobe Acrobat Pro, Documentum, and digital communication skills (e.g. Teams) are a plus.

Minimum salary $52,255 per year of a larger salary range --the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate-s relevant experience and education.
