Discover Impactful Work:

Responsible for the Downstream Manufacturing organization, which includes: Buffers, Labeling, Filling, Assembly, and QC departments. This position will also lead individual contributors specializing in process improvements, validations, change control, or project management.

The Sr. Manager is a liaison & relationship builder to internal suppliers, support functions, and customers in Sourcing, Planning, Procurement, Quality, Engineering & Maintenance, R&D, Product & Business Management, and other manufacturing sites to bring value across the organization that focuses on improving the external customer experience to drive customer allegiance.

This position provides influential leadership guidance that ensures product planning, scheduling, sourcing, materials availability, & equipment maintenance are effective in enabling the teams & plant to achieve customer-focused & financial goals, including profitable growth & inventory management expectations.

The role that drives the implementation of PPI-Lean Enterprise is the Lean Manufacturing resource responsible for eliminating waste & improving flow while building a culture that is effective at root cause and corrective/preventive action.

A Day in the Life:

The candidate must also be astute, forward-thinking, inspire, empower, and collaborate successfully.

  • Maintains a high level of safety awareness among associates, follows all ISO & Regulatory Compliance standards, and implements 5S principles.

  • Provides guidance, direction & leadership to ensure that parts are manufactured with the highest level of quality in a safe and timely manner.

  • Conducts fact-based analysis using lean techniques to bring value, eliminate waste & drive continuous process improvement related to safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity.

  • Mentors and supports career development plans and performs team performance evaluations.

  • Develops and drives strategy for team capacity, equipment and capital planning, flow and manufacturing footprint management, and program initiatives in support of strategic plant plan and annual objectives.

  • Develops team critical metrics and trends. Identifies gaps, evaluates root causes with a data-driven approach, and implements countermeasures.

  • Handles expenses to meet budgets and financial objectives and proactively seeks opportunities to drive improvement of the operating results.

  • Responsible for maintaining proper staffing levels, scheduling & organizing work assignments within the company policies and procedures.

  • Provides leadership guidance during Gemba walks.

  • Active participant in Sales, Inventory, and Operation Planning (SIOP) processes to anticipate and address demand and capacity needs and optimize inventory balance.

  • Acts as a liaison with Product Managers/Business Leaders and members of other operations departments and sites

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Keys to Success:

Education

  • A Bachelor's Degree is required; an advanced degree such as an MBA is a plus.

Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in ISO or cGMP-regulated manufacturing environment.

  • 6+ years of progression in manufacturing leadership positions of increasing responsibility, with a preference for experience in reagent consumables manufacturing.

  • Multi-shift management experience preferred.

  • ERP system knowledge and an understanding of cost accounting/standard manufacturing financials.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Must demonstrate strong leadership abilities with the capability to use diverse resources, respond quickly, understand the impact of changes and decisions, facilitate agreement, build collaborative relationships, and understand internal and external customer needs.

  • Knowledge of process engineering, standardization, and documentation with a track record of planning, implementing, and administering programs to achieve business objectives.

  • Knowledge, experience, or training in Practical Process Improvement (PPI) or other Lean techniques and proficiency in process auditing.

  • Ability to lead and organizational change.

  • Project management training is a plus.

  • Knowledge of finance, engineering, planning, EH&S, facilities, manufacturing, and quality.

  • 5-10% travel as needed

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $117,000.00–$175,500.00.
