Job Description

The Data Scientist will be reporting into the Finance organization Center of Excellence. This individual will be working closely across the entire matrix of divisions and functions, and will be responsible for data mining and algorithms that lead to core statistical models that identify new opportunities and useful insights to drive overall efficiency, productivity, and revenue. The Data Scientist will be identifying and presenting predictive drivers/leading indicators, trends, outliers, and patterns that uncover new insights to help guide enterprise-wide business insights. Additional work will entail: AB & multi-variate testing to measure impact of identified initiatives, building optimization models for scenario testing future business outcomes based, 'tell stories' using advanced analytics and data visualization techniques, independently exploring useful insights that identify incremental revenue and efficiency opportunities within the financial COE team, derive data driven insights in close partnership with Finance, Operations, Commercial, and Data Science teams to expose opportunities for revenue and cost optimization with resource allocation, and leverage visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and SAS Visual Analytics to perform interactive data exploration that help businesses and senior leaders understand impact of seen opportunities. This person can sit fully remote during the contract duration, and may have potential to convert to FTE if in the San Jose area.

Skills and Requirements

-Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Statistics, or a related field, Master's preferred

-3+ years' experience building statistical modelling tools & underlying algorithms, optimization / machine learning, and data mining models (must have experience with regression models)

-Experience analyzing large, complex data sets yielding opportunities for revenue and/or process improvement within an organization

-Ability to troubleshoot own work, and work independently to deliver on projects

-Experience with time series forecasting, OR machine-learning and deep-learning

-Ability to problem solve, think critically, approach scenarios creatively and identify solutions

-SQL experience: ability to do selects, joins, pulling tables, downloading data

-Python experience: loading data from Sharepoint, exploratory data analysis, plotting and transforming data, data manipulation and running models

-Data visualization experience

-Project and time management skills, ability to communicate and contribute in a collaborative environment -Master's Degree, or higher education

-AWS S3 experience

-Pyspark experience

-Databricks experience

-Snowflake experience null
