Carlisle Interconnect Technologies Director, Supply Chain (Metals) in Carlisle, Pennsylvania

Carlisle Companies has recently acquired MTL Holdings, a leader in Edge Metal, and Non-Insulated Architectural Wall Systems. Due to this growth, we have identified a need for a Director of Supply Chain, for our metals business titled Carlisle Architectural Metals (CAM), a part of Carlisle Construction Materials (CCM). This leader will be responsible for setting strategies, coordinating initiatives, and driving the development of an enhanced supply chain infrastructure for CAM. This role establishes sourcing and supplier selection activities; implements and coordinates category strategy and negotiation activities using Supplier Relationship Management or other programs; develops and executes risk management and mitigation policies to ensure continuous supply; ensures continuous improvement from the supply base via improved supplier reporting, audits, elimination of sole sources, and other interactions; and leads continuous improvement activities across the supply base for CAM.

This position is responsible for developing and maintaining inventory management & control and production planning processes and systems that maximize service to the customer while optimizing and monitoring inventory levels across the CAM business. The person in this position is expected to work as a liaison between Sales, Production, and Purchasing to ensure product stock is adequate to achieve business goals. The Director continuously improves performance and cost measures while enforcing the implementation of all policies, practices, and procedures pertaining to supply chain initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop sourcing and procurement strategy for all categories of spend.
  • Accelerate the implementation of the Supplier Relationship Management or other programs around spend management, supply base enhancement, and improved cost.
  • Align or develop supplier capacity and capability to meet business demand.
  • Drive supplier productivity and performance through the engagement of suppler and customer teams.
  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers in support of new product development, enhanced supplier risk mitigation or elimination, or support of new product lines including supplier visits where appropriate. Design and institute a robust supplier audit procedure that proactively identifies gaps, risks and production readiness within the supply base.
  • Lead supply chain support for organizational initiatives such as manufacturing transfers to/from other facilities, new supplier processes supporting Lean initiatives, process improvements, and other special projects.
  • Work with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing and Customers on identified Value Engineering initiatives. Communicate and ensure implementation of engineering changes or designs with suppliers. Reduce cost by monitoring and tracking supplier value analysis/value engineering and operational efficiency opportunities.
  • Develop policies and lead teams in support of the business processes such as quoting activities, New Product Introduction (NPI), Special Project purchasing activities, supplier evaluation and selection, supplier quote response management, cost estimate support, placement of initial long lead time and other purchase orders required to support new business, as well as other supply chain processes to support timely problem-resolution and ongoing business needs.
  • Manage and set priorities for RFQ's, supplier initiatives, negotiations, and improve performance of plant supply chain departments by employing Lean strategies.
  • Work closely with Purchasing teams on transferring cost, source information, lead time, and other appropriate information to the production environment to support robust planning processes.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university (Business, Supply Chain, or Technical preferred).
  • MBA or Masters in Supply Chain (or equivalent) is preferred.
  • APICS/ISM/Supply Chain certification or willingness to complete APICS CPIM or CSCP certification program (or equivalent) program within two years of employment.
  • 7-15 years of progressive experience in professional Supply Chain position(s) in the Metals industry is required.
  • 7+ years supervisory experience is required.
  • Experience in Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Advanced skills including planning, purchasing, sourcing, warehousing, inventory control, shipping and receiving/logistics, and/or manufacturing engineering desired.
