As a Product Manager of Specialty Controllers, you will drive the overall success for a key part of HID’s growing controller portfolio. You will drive requirements and investments with key stakeholders and own the product's virtual P&L all while driving commercial, technical and customer alignment.

With a strong emphasis on hardware platform definition, you will identify market problems, collect and document customer needs, analyze the competitive landscape and work with physical access control system partners (OEMs), HID regional product marketing leaders and key HID commercial leaders to developer product strategies and roadmaps, document market and product requirements and drive product definition into HID’s new product introduction (NPI) and innovation development processes. You will have end-to-end ownership of specialty controllers while also significantly contributing to the requirements for the entire controller hardware platform.

You will work closely with product owners in both hardware and firmware, clarifying requirements and validating the engineering response and proposed solutions while working closely with development and stakeholders to identify the most efficient way to bring controller solutions to market. You will plan product go-to-market (GTM) with product marketing and commercial leaders, support the creation of marketing and sales materials, train the sales staff and key partners and lead the overall launch of the product with your partners in product marketing, marketing communications and sales. You will measure and report on performance of launched products and be ultimately accountable for the success of your product line.

You use your strong background in physical access control hardware and understanding of the competitive market landscape to help define a world-class access controller product line that enables system providers to create access control systems.

As our Product Manager- Controllers , you’ll support HID’s success by:

  • Developing a strategic vision aligned with business priorities and aspirations.

  • Driving innovation and differentiation for your products by understanding customer and market problems, competitive positioning and technology trends.

  • Delivering clear and actionable product requirements and roadmaps that address market problems for which customers are willing to pay to get solved.

  • Interfacing with partners and end customers along with internal stakeholders, aggregating voice of customer input and prioritizing product development amongst numerous priorities.

  • Performing competitive analysis, identify opportunities to differentiate and win, driving ideas and collaboration amongst the development team and other internal stakeholders.

  • Identifying new technologies and applications to address with specialty controllers

  • Driving outcomes, instituting a results-oriented mindset, develop and implement metrics that evaluate effectiveness of the product line.

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to align marketing, sales, and product development efforts to drive revenue growth.

  • Coordinating input to the business case for identified opportunities, including estimates of revenue, business savings, and costs ​ . ​

  • Developing and executing comprehensive go-to-market strategies for new product launches and existing product lines, including developing pricing strategies and supporting the development of channel strategies.

  • Working together with OEM partners and internal marketing communications groups to form product positioning and create sales and marketing materials for product launch.

  • Working with developer support staff and product owners to identify necessary product documentation and support requirements, focused on OEM developers and the access control installer community.

  • Following up with customers to discover and record use of launched features.

  • Proficient in MS Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

  • Familiar CRM tools and analysis such as Salesforce.com

  • Experience with Jira and Miro is beneficial, but not required.

  • Ability to read and interpret customer RFI/RFP’s, specifications, technical standards, etc.

  • Effective management of customer requirements and expectations.

  • Demonstrated history of excellence in customer interaction.

  • Partners with regional product marketing and business development teams to communicate roadmaps to key partners and customers while always processing feedback and adapting product strategies

    Your Experience and Education include:

  • Bachelor's degree (Master is beneficial but not required).

  • 5+ years of experience in similar role

  • Product Management experience across multiple customer types, technologies and product development methodologies

  • Strong knowledge of the physical access control industry is highly desired.

  • Strong background in electronics, particularly low voltage systems, is a must

  • Compliance to all relevant HID Global policies and procedures related to Quality, Security, Safety, Business Continuity, and Environmental systems.

  • Travel and fieldwork including international travel, therefore employee must possess or can acquire a valid passport / visa.
