OVERALL PURPOSE

We are seeking a dynamic and analytical Portfolio Data Analyst to join our team. This role demands a curious and insightful individual with a genuine passion for uncovering meaningful insights within data.

As a valuable member of our Credit Portfolio Management team, your primary objective will be to uncover trends and insights using data from existing data sources as well from reports and compelling visualizations that you will compile for our internal and external stakeholders. This will help us to enhance our monitoring and decision-making on the various unsecured loan products that we offer.

This role will be based in Cape Town and will be hybrid.

As a Portfolio Data Analyst at Lula, your role will involve:

  • Creating new reports that will be used internally and externally, as well as improving existing reporting

  • Aggregating data from various sources while maintaining a focus on data integrity, ensuring accuracy in the delivered insights

  • Diving into data sets to identify, analyse, and interpret trends, presenting actionable insights to support business strategies

  • Collaborating closely with the Credit Underwriting and Collections Teams, as well as with Finance, Business Development and Sales Departments

  • Regularly interacting with internal stakeholders, keeping them informed and engaged with the latest data-driven insights to support their decision-making

  • Communicate findings effectively through visually appealing reports and presentations, translating complex data into actionable insights for stakeholders

  • Investigating and resolving data issues by effectively liaising with appropriate business and tech teams, ensuring data accuracy and reliability

  • Collaboratively analysing and problem-solving, fostering a team-oriented approach to data analysis within the organisation

THE COMPETENCIES WE'RE AFTER

  • Strong analytical skills, enabling you to source, organise, and analyse substantial amounts of information with precision and attention to detail

  • Ability to quickly and accurately analyse data, meeting reasonable deadlines while maintaining high-quality output

  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively present findings and insights to various stakeholders

  • Creative thinking ability to unearth valuable insights from data and drive strategic decision-making

  • Ability to thrive in a team environment and work collaboratively, as well as independently, to drive impactful data analysis

THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Matric/ Grade 12 achieved

  • University degree or equivalent, preferably in Commerce, Engineering or Science

  • Demonstrated work experience in data analysis and reporting within financial services

  • Strong Excel skills – including the use of pivot tables, and functions such as Vlookup, nested If's, etc.

  • Strong SQL skills – proficiency in writing and debugging SQL, with experience in functions, tables, views, etc.

  • Strong numerical abilities

  • Any credit risk experience would be advantageous, as well as working with Power BI, Mixpanel and Python
