Context:

As businesses modernize their IT systems, they increasingly rely on containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes to create scalable, portable, and efficient applications. Managing containers across hybrid environments (both on-premises and in the cloud) presents unique challenges, including ensuring security, maintaining performance, and managing network complexity. This internship will allow you to dive deep into these technologies, exploring how to deploy, orchestrate, and manage containerized applications across diverse infrastructures.

Topic:

The goal of this project is to design and implement a containerized solution using Docker and Kubernetes that can be deployed and managed across both on-premises data centres and cloud environments. The intern will develop strategies for managing the lifecycle of containers, ensuring workload distribution, and addressing challenges such as network latency and security. This project will also cover how to make sure applications remain highly available and performant, regardless of their deployment environment.

What you’ll be doing:

You will thus acquire knowledge on the following specialized subjects:

• Design and implement containerized solutions using Docker and Kubernetes.

• Deploy and manage containers across hybrid environments (on-premises and cloud).

• Develop strategies for optimizing workload distribution and scaling.

• Address network, security, and performance challenges in hybrid environments.

• Monitor and manage the lifecycle of containerized applications.

• Work closely with development engineers and architects on real-world challenges.

• Document your findings and propose best practices for hybrid environments.

You will be part of the “Cloud-native software development and Data” global team, composed of experienced development engineers and architects deploying technical solution and services on customer premises (Technical Services team).

During the internship, you will receive the support of a senior engineer as well as the team leader to guide you while defining the approach and milestones. You will also participate in all the team meetings and activities, which will enable you to be immersed in the professional world and to be faced with day-to-day challenges encountered in the work environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:

• 5th year of a master's degree or equivalent.

• Strong interest in containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and hybrid cloud environments.

• Familiarity with modern development practices and container orchestration tools.

• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a dynamic team.

• Relevant work experience (e.g., internships, part-time jobs, or school projects) would be considered an asset.
