Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration Maintenance Supervisor in Cape Coral, Florida

Summary As the Maintenance Supervisor assigned to Environmental Management Service (EMS) at the Lee County VA Healthcare Center in Cape Coral, Florida you are responsible for coordinating all services by EMS and for Naples, Sebring and PT Charlotte VA Clinics; including feedback to customers on requested services and arrangements to allow for safe and effective execution of work by others and serve as a conduit for information for satisfaction and improvement for completing tasks. Responsibilities Major duties include, but are not limited to: Coordinating all services provided by Environmental Management Services which includes employees, staff, visitors, patients and volunteers. Maintaining an outer-building in an aesthetically as well as aseptically clean matter. Responsible for minor facility repair in outer buildings including repairs of all types of plumbing fixtures, repairs to faucets, unplugging stop up plumbing fixtures, repair leaks of various kinds, repairs to carts of all kinds, replacing defective light switches, plugs installing all kinds of devices on walls, desks and floors, minors repairs of electric beds, portable sinks, coffee urns, conveyors, office and ward furniture, food carts and hydraulic beds. Performs Contracting Officer Technical Representative (COTR) duties for signage projects, window washing contract and others projects, as required. Responsible to learn, practice and support all existing safety practices relevant to position; contributes to and keep abreast of new safe precautions as they are developed. Responsible to create, actively promote and effectively manage a culturally diverse workforce, which embraces the values and the needs of all individuals. Accomplished through long-term commitment, strategic and business planning, education and experience which broadens the mindset and by fully manage human resources. Serves as key member of the Surgical Strategic Health Care Group, POD. May serve as the Hospital Housekeeping Manager in the absence of the Housekeeping Manager. Performs others duties, as assigned. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Position requires stamina. Requires significant standing, walking, bending, stooping and climbing. Incumbent may have to lift items weighing up to 75 pounds. Education Additional Information Receiving Service Credit or Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior work experience or military service experience. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. Such credit must be requested and approved prior to the appointment date and is not guaranteed.
