Heidelberg Materials is seeking an Assistant Plant Manager to join our team in Cape Canaveral, FL.

What you’ll get to do

  • Ensure the Health, Safety and Welfare of all employees, contractors, visitors, and guests.

  • Partner with the Director of Cement Operations to optimize plant performance and reliability by participating in the development of the plant’s objectives while maintaining oversight of daily plant, production operations and Quality assurance

  • Provide input into plant capital and operating plans and effectively manage budget costs

  • Assume full responsibility for the plant in the Director of Cement Operations’ absence

  • Synchronize production activities with maintenance, process, and quality control activities to make certain that the plant is performing to highest standards. Support emergency call outs as required to maintain 24 hr operation

  • Manages the Shift Teams to ensure production requirements are met

  • Ensures the maintenance and operation of equipment is at optimal levels. Collaborates with maintenance manager to minimize equipment downtime. Coordinates, plans, organizes, and oversees the annual plant shut down. Ensures CCC Maintenance initiatives are implemented

  • Collaborate with plant staff to address operating methods, procedures, and opportunities associated with continuous improvement of production quality and efficiencies

  • Identify and address corresponding training needs of plant staff and ensures that appropriate training is implemented

  • Fully support the company’s purchasing initiative and ensure that purchasing policies and contract management policies and procedures are adhered to in the plant. Work in partnership with Region Purchasing personnel regarding the purchase of major equipment and raw materials

  • Oversee the plant Quality Control Department to meet product specifications and production goals

  • Participate in community activities to continually promote plant/community relations

  • Ensure compliance with plant policies & procedures, safety, environmental, state and federal process regulations. Actively support and play a leadership role in the plant’s safety program

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline preferred

  • Preferably a minimum of 5 years of cement plant management experience, with a strong background in operations management and specific experience with Ball Mill, High Pressure Roll Press, and 3 rd Generation/O-Sepa machines

  • Working knowledge and technical competency in the cement finish grinding process, with emphasis in the Finish Mill systems; Knowledge and experience of process control interlocking

  • Managerial and leadership competencies acquired in progressively more responsible positions with the ability to perform in roles of both plant manager and direct reports on a relief basis

  • Financial acumen, particularly plant related elements such as income statements, cost reports, capital and operating budgets, and forecasts

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills; Ability to make timely, critical decision, without compromising employee safety

  • Well-developed communication skills, both oral and written

  • Strong leadership skills with proven examples of improving employee engagement, morale and performance

  • Proficient with window-based PC software programs MS Office, SAP, and manufacturing related systems and applications

  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and guidelines

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Experience at multiple cement plants

  • Strong technical expertise, trainings, and certifications

Work Environment

  • Role operates in a manufacturing environment with moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, elevated noise levels, and dusty conditions
