Req# 27634 Aultman Health Foundation, CANTON, OH AULTMAN HOSPITAL Aultman Health Foundation Casual - As Needed - No Benefits, Varied Shifts, Varied Description GENERAL SUMMARY AND SCOPE Performs radiologic imaging procedures; Operates x-ray equipment; positions patient; performs and documents patient assessment as relates to the imaging encounter; exports images to PACS; accesses and utilizes computer HIS/RIS as needed; prepares radiology room, equipment, supplies. The GXMO technologist will work within the scope as defined by the Ohio Department of Health. This includes general x-ray procedures where a registered technologist is on-site within the radiology department. The GXMO will not independently perform fluoroscopic procedures, portable exams, or surgery cases. ESSENTIAL TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Pleasantly greets patients, introduce yourself, and confirming their identification. Prepares patient for x-ray by having patient gown appropriately as needed. Able to utilize the hospital computer systems (HIS/RIS/PACS) to retrieve information, export images, review images, verify data, perform order entry to produce a requisition, and complete exam record in RIS following completion of exam. Receives order request checking for special instructions, consults with Radiologists as needed. Prepares room, equipment, and imaging materials as needed for patients. Assists patient at end of procedures, appropriately ending encounter by making sure patient is taken to room, ED, or other unit. If an outpatient, he or she is shown out of imaging and/or to other testing locations. Explains procedures to the patient. Transfers patient to the imaging table if required. Positions patient for all needed views. Ability to adapt positioning and views per patient encounter when patient is unable to cooperate or comply with routine positions. Selects and operates equipment as directed. Follows prescribed techniques in administering x-rays. Adjusts equipment settings; determines proper exposure parameters, selecting proper technical factors on an individual patient basis. Observes patient and machine during procedure and reports unusual occurrences. Performs a patient assessment, as appropriate for the imaging procedure to assist Radiologist during interpretation. Knowledge of the needs of patients according to their age group and the ability to modify care according to patient s age. Technologist will most frequently care for adults and geriatric patients; and, on occasion, adolescents, children, infants, and neonates. Lifts, moves, and transports patients via wheelchair or cart. Transports patient from patient room, Surgery Center, ESD, and other patient care areas. Returns patient to room or other patient care area. OTHER TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assists with clerical and front office duties and responsibilities as needed. Clerical functions may include answering and routing phone calls, release of information, burning CD s, and other related tasks. Identifies problems and communicates appropriately to immediate supervisor, offers solutions as appropriate. Cleans and disinfects x-ray room and equipment. Maintains stock supplies for assigned room or work area. Uses lead shield to protect unaffected parts of patient s body from exposure to X-ray. Wears film badge at waist level and collar level at all times. Uses time, distance, and shielding to minimize exposure to radiation. Participates in department performance improvement activities as assigned and attends required training. Reports any department equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel. Demonstrates Service Excellence and ACE. Performs other duties, as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES High School graduate, or equivalent. Must be a student in final year (or graduate) in a formal radiologic technology training program
